TAIPEI, Taiwan - Taipei Prosecutors yesterday charged a man for allegedly having sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old student despite claims of a consensual relationship, local media reported. But the wife of the 30-year-old man, surnamed Lin, has in turn charged the teenager with disrupting her marriage and family, said the United Evening News.

Lin, who ran an extracurricular supplementary school, met the girl in his class before beginning a four-year relationship with her. The relationship was brought to light because of disagreements that had arisen when the student started dating another man after enrolling in college, the report added. The girl sought help from her mother who pressed charges, said the report.

Prosecutors were cited as saying that even though the girl had willingly participated in the act, the law deems any adult who engages in sexual intercourse with anyone 14 years or younger as having committed a crime.
