China vows to stand by North Korea
ca.news.yahoo.com BEIJING (Reuters) - China vowed to strengthen bonds with North Korea, saying on Monday that its traditional ties with the isolated state were a boon to peace. The renewed commitment between the two communist neighbors came in messages between President Hu Jintao as well as other Chinese leaders and North Korea's top leader, Kim Jong-il, who on Sunday greeted Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao at the start of a visit focused on bolstering bilateral relations. The messages marked 60 years since the two countries established formal ties on October 6, 1949, and did not mention North Korea's nuclear weapons program, instead stressing their focus on shoring up sometimes tense bilateral relations. "History demonstrates that developing China-North Korea relations is in keeping with the fundamental interests and shared wishes of both countries' people," said the congratulatory message from China, issued by the official Xinhua news agency. "It also benefits protecting regional peace and stability." |

the westerner seems to be ignorant about history........Lorea was a kingdom subjucated to the Chinese dynasty for few thousand years,,,n china has chased out invaders to Korea 3 times since the Ching dynasty,,the last of which was US invasion during the korea war.....
so the bondage went far back a few thousand years ,,,not 60 years...the Kprean culture is predominantly chinese culture inmplanted since Tang dynasty..[so was japan]... and now china supply all ythe foods and whatever N korea needs everyday into n Korea... Just look at the exuberant and hot blooded welcome Premier Wen got personally from KIm..remiscent the ancient ceremonial offer when a Han high ranking official visit the Korean Kingdom....even those drama series of today...the Korean only address their ruler as the King of Korean Kingdom..but the ultimate ruler was the emperor of the chinese dynasty.... of course..china will continue to be the protector and gardian of north korean for centuries to come...like elder brother now...used to be subjucate and ruler... |
