Is it bad that I'm afraid of lettuce?

Sorry.. seriously though, I'm starting to believe the food supply isn't safe. Not due to terrorism, either, but just bad farming practices. Peanut butter, broccoli, most chickens contaminated (86% I think, will go look up - nope, it's 83%, MUCH better), it's all kind of frightening.
Don't forget carrot juice, spinach, taco bell lettuce....

Why are people not questioning this? Every little thing spooks the hell out them. Those little Adult Swim boxes in Boston had everyone scared of terrorists....why isn't anyone accusing these dozen or so sickness outbreaks on terrorism?

Kept Kerry out of the WH.
And how on earth could he have been worse?

I can keep more of my money do to his tax cuts. Thats your ONE GOOD thing.
Glad you are enjoying your few hundred dollars while the fatcats made millions and people out there are going without healthcare.

I guess bribery still counts for something.

I guess bribery still counts for something. Are you against the idea of people keeping more of their income? Is that bad in your eyes? People go without health care because they choose to. At some point in their lives they made the wrong choice and are paying the consequences for it. To blame that on tax cuts is wrong.

What we need is Nancy Pelosi to Overturn that Cheeseburger Law that bush signed so we can all run to our lawyers and Sue McDonalds just like the Tabbaco Industry are being sued right out of business.

The only solution must be to deep-fat fry the hell out of everything, that way you've killed every possible germ. I'll start with twinkies, just to be safe.
Peanut butter grows ? Is it like, um, sap or some kind of juice ?

Add to that wonderful thought that the ones who promote the Nanny laws that are innane, don't have the sense to be insulted by those laws - "hey, I'm too stupid to not dump hot coffee on my lap and I'm too stupid so I need a law that says you have to label antibacterial agents so that I don't drink them." Darwin's law will weed out the truely innane

Hey, hey, hey...stop that. I was told by that guy wearing a plaid coat at the nursery that my peanut butter tree would give me peanut butter. All I had to do was buy ther tapping kit for $47.95.

[By the way, I bought some Wensleydale at the store today (I got sent home from work because no one wants my cold...I'm depressed). I only had two choices - Wensleydale "traditional" cheddar, or a mass-produced cranberry cheddar. I chose the former. It's good (could be a bit stronger but I liked the creamy texture).]

Healthcare in this country has been a problem for a long time and it's the fault of both parties. Those "fatcats" are also members of both parties, contrary to popular belief. It's quite aggravating, yes. But an extra few hundred dollars is nice to have...

yep, some people think we need cradle to grave benefits from Uncle Sam, along with free healthcare, protection from germs, and, of course, an I-pod.

Well I'm glad the "nanny" state is keeping "germs" like e-coli and salmonella out of my meat. Thanks for playing.

Tell me more about your pro e.coli beliefs Alex.

Are you against the idea of people keeping more of their income?
nothing as long as the necessities of our country are met

People go without health care because they choose to. At some point in their lives they made the wrong choice and are paying the consequences for it.
They 'choose' not to because they cannot afford it. What wrong choice did they make? Some people who are financially sound still cannot afford healthcare if a huge medical crisis occurs. The health of our citizens is more important than any CEO buying a new yacht.

We need the Nanny Government to come too our aid.......... more laws..... more regs........ because lord knowns that we do not know how to look out for ourselfs...
So we are supposed to go to the food source and check the plant and do tests on the product ourselves?

yep, some people think we need cradle to grave benefits from Uncle Sam, along with free healthcare, protection from germs, and, of course, an I-pod.
...and some people exaggerate and use slippery slope arguments. Healthcare is one area that IS a necessity. Most people cannot afford good healthcare, and even the ones who can can be wiped out by a truly bad illness. The lives of our citizens should be a major concern for our country. The fact that the conservatives are against national healthcare just shows that they aren't really the pro-life party.

Whats a Nanny Government
I call it the conservative government of legislating morals...gay marriage, pornography, obscene words, drug laws, etc. :P

I know this is completely off the thread topic but since it has been brought up, I have an interesting take on the supposed "growing" healthcare problem. Back when Clinton was President, his wife told us how there were 40 million people without healthcare. 1994 estimate: Health Insurance Percentage) The population was about 255 million. Information Please: 1992 That means we had 16% of the population without healthcare. We now have a popultaion of 300 million and we are being told we have 46.6 million without healthcare. Number of Americans without Health Insurance Continues to Grow (misnomer headline) That's 15.5% of the population, a drop of .5%. So under President Bush, we now have a lower percentage of the population without healthcare than under Clinton. Hmmmm.

We have a food safety crisis on the horizon I know, let's encourage depletion of the country's topsoil by forwarding the use of argicultural crops to make ethanol and biodiesel to fuel our tractors and other motor vehicles.

That way we can ensure a food crisis in the future.

Didn't sign the extension of the worthless "Assault Weapon Ban" that Democrats cling onto..

-Kept US emissions of CO2 at a 1.3% increase from 2000-2004 while EU CO2 emissions iscreased 2.1% within the same period.

-Signed the Notification and Federal Employees Antidiscrimination and Reprisal Act (NoFEAR Act) in 2004.

-Kept our economy strong during gross war expenditures.
...
Sam, I'm no fan of Clinton (probably as much as you are no fan of Bush) but I recognise that there are some good things that Clinton did (no matter how much it pains me ).

Yes. Yes it does.

I go out daily to pick my fresh, ripe jars of peanut butter.

OK! Crappy farming practices AND production. Both. They're both to blame for some of the horrible food problems we're seeing lately. Not just bad farming practices. Though peanuts grow, I understand. I believe this, though I have never in my life seen an actual peanut bush. Tree. Shrub. Plant. Thing.

But I still want a peanut butter jar bush. Damned, damned convenient.

$47.95 ? That's a bargain I had to pay $60 for mine......

By the way, I bought some Wensleydale at the store today (I got sent home from work because no one wants my cold...I'm depressed). I only had two choices - Wensleydale "traditional" cheddar, or a mass-produced cranberry cheddar. I chose the former. It's good (could be a bit stronger but I liked the creamy texture). Yeah, if you want strength go for the cheddar, but wensleydale does have a nice flavour and texture to it. It's good salad cheese in my opinion, cheddar can sometimes drown out the flavour of the salad stuff, whereas Wensleydale is about right. Cheddar on the other hand makes the best cheese on toast ever.....
