Default Bush forming commission to examine Walter Reed issues
President Bush will name former Secretary of Health and Human Services Donna Shalala and former Sen. Bob Dole to head a commission to probe problems at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, a senior administration official told CNN today. It's just the banner on CNN right now, so no links yet.

I heard one interesting thing the other day, which was that during the congressional hearing, the reporter who first reported this admitted that they had know about the conditions for months without telling the military. Apparently getting the story to press was more important than fixing the problem. What has become of the media these days?

By not reporting it for four months, weren't they actually helping the military? I mean, if reporters are snooping around, didn't anyone in the military think to ask why?

I don't call leaving a military hospital in squaller as exactly "helping" the military. It sure wasn't the helping the injured and sick there. It may have helped a few corrupt military bureaucrats who have now been exposed, but that is in no way helping the military.

The media has its own agenda today.

I agree, a problem can exist for decades but all of a sudden it becomes important news.

Now..not that our troops aren't important enough, but it seem's silly to argue over the issue when it's been a problem for many years.

Bob Dole should be a good guy to do this. I hope he gets in there and finds out what the real problem is; I suspect it really hasn't been reported in the press.
