O'reilly is a hack......... John Stewart is a comedian, he knows he is a comedian, and he is there for a laugh. I wouldn't get my news from either source, but i do get laughs from both those guys, its just that O'Reilly is not trying to be funny. Andrew |

If people critiqued the elite media the same way as Fox...but that's not going to happen now is it? |

What do you mean? Almost every poster on this site has said Couric's show is terrible. Isn't she part of the "elite media"? I've heard rant and rave about CNN and PBS since forever? People are almost universally agreed that the state of journalist is in bad shape. Which part did I miss? Which part of "media elite" isn't getting criticized? |

Well, unlike O'Reilly or Rush Limbaugh, at least Jon Stewart bases his skits on reality..... The difference between Stewart and guys like Bill O'Reily, Keith Olbermann, or Chris Mathews is that Jon Stewart doesn't try to pass off his show as news or even serious commentary like the others. He presents it as satire. |

Look at the treatment Tom Brokaw got for example. The story had its 5 minutes of fame. Look at the lack of coverage Air America gets. From what I have been able to determine, the left attacks which much more fervor than the right does. Although its possible that the media simply covers the lefts attack more than the rights. ie, an antiwar protest is covered more than a pro war rally. |

Umm, no. He just tells the same shit the "news" shows do and makes fun of it. It's a comedy show. |

He presents it as satire while actually delivering useful information. He's not even trying but his show is slowly becoming a source for information. Journalists should hang their heads in shame. |

Tom Brokaw was how long ago? Maybe nobody talks about Air America because it's complete crap and is going under and it's not surprising. What's surprising is the fact that conservative radio does the exact same thing and is thriving. Could it be because liberals don't want partisan hack telling them what their opinions should be? |

I think youll find on this forum that Fox is crticized much more often than the mass media, and they are only one outlet, whereas the mass media is many. The right simply doesnt spen as much time critiquing the left as the left does the right. Look at the threads on this forum. Even though the democrats are now in charge of congress, most of the congress critiques are aimed at Republicans. You see, there is always a logical explanation that counters your bias. |
