Default LOL. This is a FOX NEWS "EXPERT"
On the O'Lielly Factor Tuesdeay night, "media analyst" Julie Banderas and Bill was talking about, er what else, how much the liberal media sucks and how millions of viewers are running away from NBC. The following is an exact quote from Banderas, the media "expert":

NBC has lost over two million viewers since Peter Jennings stepped down. And then Tom Brokaw, his show has lost about, uh, I don't know, two million viewers. "Uh, I don't know..." is exactly what I'd describe Banderas' expertise on this subject. First off, Peter Jennings DID NOT work for NBC. And furhermore, he passed away over a year ago.

Second, Tom Brokaw DOES NOT have a show. He retired over two years ago.

Neither Banderas (the expert) nor O'Lielly (the host) realized those facts.

Makes me think: What else are they saying on Faux News that is also not true? Hmm....

Maybe they should rename the broadcast station into "Fantasy news".

I understand what you're saying. Entertainers like Stewart, O'Reilly, and Couric (her show is garbage and can't possibly be considered news) shouldn't be relied upon to spread factual information. They aren't actually obligated to research the facts like journalists. Ironically many journalists nowadays act like they are also no longer obligated to do research on a topic.

yes agreed hank..my issues with o'rielly are he thinks he always versed on what the subject at hand is about and doesn't...because, he doesn't do his research, he couldn't possibly with all the topics he covers in addition hes not particularly quick on his mental feet either…....so in effect yes, he’s a talking head..thats not to say he doesn't surface issues you don't find on the mainstream media....and of course some of the folks he brings on that show, lack credibility no matter your outlook.....that and the only other good thing I can say is; he does bring on both sides on many issues and dukes it out even though he may be partisan, at least you get the other side…………
couric is no journalist either ..even attempting to paint her as such is laughable...so she’s in the same boat...where as o'reilly may have been one once, he hasn't for years.....

Yeeaaaah,

Well FOX News hires news "experts" based on mainly on their looks. They have a lot of female experts in different areas who just happen to be hot or at least quite attractive.

Yeah, Julie sure looks qualified to me!! I saw a "body language expert" the other day on one of the FOX News shows. She certainly got me to examine her body language.

Fox News is all about entertainment and ratings. Everything else (facts, investigative journalism, logic, integrity) is not a consideration.

Oreilly called her a "Fox News Correspondant", not a "expert" or a "media analyst". This is what you get for relying on left wing blogs. Furthermore, when you take Julies comments in context, she is referring to the viewers lost for both Jennigs and Brokaws shows since 2004, not currently.

I agree that nobody should get the news from The Daily Show. The idea of that is scary. I do watch it however because it is funny as hell.

Sadly many young people get their news from there. My girlsfriends son who is 24 yr old get's his news from that show....If he does it, I can only assume that others do to.

A poll back in 2004 said 21% of young people got their campaign "news" from the Daily Show and SNL. Sad.

Nor did the quote you provided imply that Jennings worked for NBC. Perhaps you should brush up on your reading comprehension skills if you think it did.

And furhermore, he passed away over a year ago.
So what, noone said he didn't die.

Second, Tom Brokaw DOES NOT have a show. He retired over two years ago.
The quote doesn't imply that he didn't retire.

Neither Banderas (the expert) nor O'Lielly (the host) realized those facts.
That is also very presumptuous of you.

So how did you do on those reading comprehension tests in school?

Fucking totally pathetic dude.

Well, unlike O'Reilly or Rush Limbaugh, at least Jon Stewart bases his skits on reality.....

A poll back in 2004 said 21% of young people got their campaign "news" from the Daily Show and SNL. Sad.
Why?

Now, two media studies suggest that not only are "Daily Show" viewers well educated and informed about politics, but that they get at least as much real news from Jon Stewart as they do from Charles Gibson, Brian Williams or Katie Couric -- news anchors at ABC, NBC and CBS.

Last week, the Annenberg Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania released study results showing that "Daily Show" viewers are better informed than viewers of David Letterman or Jay Leno's late-night programs and that viewers of all three late-night shows know more about election issues than others who regularly read newspapers or watch television news.

"Daily Show" viewers topped everyone in a quiz about politics "even when education, party identification, following politics, watching cable news, receiving campaign information online, age and gender are taken into consideration," an Annenberg senior research analyst said in a CNN report.

The Annenberg study, incidentally, also found that "Daily Show" viewers "are 78 percent more likely than the average adult to have four or more years of college education, while (Fox News's Bill) O'Reilly's audience is only 26 percent more likely to have that much schooling," according to CNN.

On Wednesday, Indiana University telecommunications professor Julia Fox explained through the IU Office of Media Relations the conclusions of a media study of the 2004 broadcast news coverage she headed. (She was unavailable for further comment after a major media site linked to the study and it became national news.)

"The Daily Show," Fox concluded, is at least as substantive as traditional network news. Herald-Times articles

yes he and colbert are quite the pair…..colbert was on o'rilley last week and he was just abusing him...o'reilly the dope didn't get the fact that he was, tongue in cheek, being shredded..it was a scream...I watch them instead of o'reilly as it fits my pdt 500 pm time slot… though I tune into the hack once in a while I must admit...and I must admit that several years ago I watched him every day, its all gone to his head now....

its hard sometime to tell which are the more informed or not; Stewart cobert or o'reilly.....

I will say this though, Britt Hume, is watch able and pretty fair..he always has in the last 20 minutes of his show, folks from NPR or the Wash. post and the con side to discuss issues and they don’t hold back, by that I mean the npr post perosn, gives it right back to them..if you asked me, that 20 minutes though on fox, maybe the most balanced I see on a day to day basis…and, as always its still a matter of perspective….

Oh and partofme---- glad we are talking again……I apologize for my earlier effrontery...via pm….I had a bad couple of days....I could have said things differently...
