My friend just sent me this email.
Dear Samantha, Hi! I just signed up as a supporter of John Edwards' plan for universal health care, and I'm hoping you'll do the same. It's about time someone came out with a clear, bold plan that will make sure every single American gets top quality health care at prices we can actually afford. Now that John Edwards has stepped up, those of us who support universal health care have to speak out. This kind of huge change can't happen from the top down. The whole idea is that we are all responsible - responsible for our national health care system, and responsible for building the popular support we need to make it happen. To begin, just sign up as a supporter at: John Edwards for President - Stand Up for Universal Health Care Then, join me in pledging to talk to just three other people this week about Edwards' plan for universal health care. Just by having these crucial conversations, we can each start moving America in a better direction. As Edwards always says: tomorrow begins today. Sincerely, Scott I am going to guess that at least three people will read this so I've fulfilled my pledge Here is his plan: Under the Edwards Plan:

Where's Edwards' plan for protecting medical providers from bogus lawsuits?
He's a complete hypocrite when it comes to health care costs. He's part of the industry that has made them so high to begin with - sleazy malpractice lawyers. We have a major insurance crisis in the country, one which Edwards helped create. Because of predatory lawyers who will go to court and argue that every birth defect is caused by malpractice, OB/GYNs are going out of business across the country. Malpractice insurance premiums of over $100,000 a year are common, even for physicians who have never had a malpractice claim. Matt |

Where's Edwards' plan for protecting medical providers from bogus lawsuits? Remember the OB/GYN that Bush brought up onto his campaign platform and introduced as a doctor forced out by high premiums, the reason this doctor had to pay high premiums was because one time during the delivery of a baby, he got hungry, and went out and got something to eat, leaving the patient unattended, and leaving the baby to suffer irreparable brain damage. Imagine, the insurance companies raised this guy's premiums. |

It works like this Matt, if the lawsuit is bogus, the jury finds for the defendant. That's hillarious, Goober. Really. Excellent comedy. The jury finds for whoever puts on the better show in these cases. Take a CP case. If the plaintiff has a charismatic, ethically bankrupt lawyer who can put on a good show of claiming to channel the (not dead) child, the jury returns a sympathy verdict. Throughout the country, there are attorneys who capitalize on the scientifically flawed position that every birth defect is caused by a doctor who must then pay millions. Oh, yeah, and the lawyer gets half (typically 40% plus costs). If they don't leave the specialty, that is. Every time you hear about how some poor malpractice victim was awarded millions, just remember - the lawyer walked off with half (or more). And then next time you pay your health insurance premium, understand that the costs you pay are directly related to the costs of these suits on the medical industry as a whole. Matt |

Samantha! You touched a nerve with the Bush Crowd out there. Don't you know about natural selection? It's really important that working people waste lots of their wages on an inefficient medical care system. People born into wealth, however, are exempt from this important testing process, because they've already proven their genetic superiority just by being born.
Don't you know even THINKING about making medical care more efficient is Socialism! (Oh, by the way, we need a few more billions to bail out some poorly-run industries like the airlines and the insurance companies after 9-11. Wouldn't want the idle rich to suffer any hardship. That might disrupt the economy.) |

Those without health coverage arrived there due to thier own laziness or stupidity. Why should we be punished for our dilegence and be forced to care for these inferiors? |

My friend just sent me this email. Besides throwing money to people to pay for it is not the way. (because they will use it for something else..The only way, is to PROVIDE THE SERVICES not the money to PAY for the services.) |
