Guess the Dems aren't as serious about actually working on capital hill as they pretended. But we all know Dems don't care much for actual work.
Could you imagine if businesses decided to give everyone a day off because of a football game? DRUDGE REPORT FLASH 2007® Not even one week! "Culture Shock on Capitol Hill: House to Work 5 Days a Week" front-paged the WASHINGTON POST in December. Majority leader Steny Hoyer said members of the House will be expected in the Capitol for votes each week by 6:30 p.m. Monday and will finish their business about 2 p.m. Friday. Explained the POST: "Forget the minimum wage. Or outsourcing jobs overseas. The labor issue most on the minds of members of Congress yesterday was their own: They will have to work five days a week starting in January." But on the morning after the night before, on the first full week of the new congress, Hoyer has pulled back from his vow! A Hoyer press release obtained by the DRUDGE REPORT boldly declares: "Monday, January 8, 2007: The House is not in session." Hill sources claim The House is taking Monday 'off' this week, because of the championship football game between Ohio State and the University of Florida. And, of course, the following Monday is the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. 100 hours...starting...soon Varus |

Personally I am generally glad to see politicans not working, especially when I disagree with their goals. Varus |

I don't recall hearing any Republicans complaining when they were in session the least amout of days since the Truman administration. Now the sky is falling because the Democrats want a 4 day workweek instead of 5 ?
It isn't the days in session that is important anyway, it's what they accomplish while they are there. |

I don't recall Democrats running on the 5 day work week. I recall it being something brought up after the election was won. Selective amnesia is something the libs are well practiced in. Varus |

Why am I not surprised none of the liberals are jumping in to defend the liars they put in power? Besides, the less time the politicians spend in Washington, the less they are fucking up our lives. If they need to be voting five days a week then they are writing too many laws. |

less is more - let em stay at home permanently and they can sponsor bills and vote via computer. C'mon, let's get real people, legislating is a part time job at best. How many flippin' new laws do we really need? We all know that it doesn't take much to vote the party line, which is what happens 99% of the time anyway. so, why fly to Washington for that? Phone it in.....
But the "Fund raising" is a full time activity for these scumbags.... that never ends! |

I heard this on the news today. Turns out it was the Republican John Boehner who requested Steny Hoyer not put any votes for the day so they could go to the football game.
It's not the Democrats who don't want to work hard.... Link Figures the republicans would try to blame the dems for this. Just more of the same old dishonest bullshit. |
