Hacked Fox tweets claim 'Obama dead'
Hacked Fox tweets claim 'Obama dead' - Americas - Al Jazeera English A FoxNews.com Twitter account was hacked briefly on Monday and six false tweets, saying that US President Barack Obama had been shot dead, were sent. In a statement posted on its website later on Monday morning, Fox News called the tweets "malicious" and "false". The media outlet, owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp, said it was investigating the hacking and had alerted the US Secret Service. Fox may need to have a chat with their IT director. I'd love to see the reaction of people who bought this. |

Yeah the USSS will get to the bottom of this real fast, whoever is responsible will almost certainly be facing quite a long time in the big house. |

I don't know about that. Don't a lot of hackers pride themselves in being able to cover their tracks and remain anonymous? Heck, Lulzsec formed, attacked a bunch of sites for a few months, then got bored and disbanded. Doesn't exactly put confidence in law enforcement's ability to fight these guys. |

I imagine, once it's shown that their only intention was to mess with Fox, they'll just get some kind of fine or something. I don't know what the legal ramifications are for hacking an account that doesn't involve secrets or someone's financial security. |

Yeah and that's where they're gonna get stung, not to mention the time and resources of the USSS and Court costs they'll have to cover plus the fine and loss of services in VOS of whomever is their service provider. The Service provider will likely get in trouble as well if they were determined to be complicit in nature.

Well, the charges could potentially carry 25 years in prison just at the Federal level alone, so most of them tend not to do it within the US, and that's not inclusive of any mail/wire fraud or state charges etc. Likely they wouldnt get stung with the lot, but i'm pretty sure we'll see an example made out of whoever was responsible for this.
