Not that it's impossible for Angle to win a Senate seat. She came pretty close against a powerful incumbent. Give her a few years in the House of not embarrassing herself and she could be a contender when Reid retires.
The other way to look at it is that she was up against arguably the most at-risk incumbent in the 2010 election cycle, and in one of the most heavily Republican years in decades she still couldn't get close to beating Reid. Iropnically if it had have been anyone else her career would probably have been over, but for some reason her radical kookiness is reasonating, so she has a sure-fire election victory coming her way.

That's true as well, but it is an easy House seat for her to win, and once you're in the House, you automatically gain a little credibility than you have when you're just a kooky state official. All she has to do to get rid of the Kook Factor is just lay low and be respectable in the House for a few years and wait for Reid to retire(or die, since besides resigning, Democrats aren't fond of letting go of power until it's pried from their dead hands).

His resignation may save his family from further embarrassment.
