Default While protests rage in the M.E., protesters in the US are arrested
Kind of ironic to see this happening in the US from a peaceful protester. Ray McGovern is arrested for his silent protest of Hillary Clinton.

OpEdNews - Article: Former CIA Veteran Ray McGovern Discusses Brutal Arrest at Secretary Clinton's Internet Freedom Speech

On Tuesday, as U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton spoke on issues of free speech at George Washington University, 71-year-old former CIA analyst Ray McGovern was assaulted, dragged from the room and double handcuffed causing profuse bleeding.

What had he done to elicit this treatment? He stood in "silent witness." Apparently an old man standing silently with his back turned in the presence of a government figure is now considered disorderly conduct, warranting jail time.

Hillary also defends the country's attacks on Wikileaks and the use of The 1917 Espionaqge act to silence things like Wikileaks as well.

So I can only take her speech with a grain of salt.

Does anyone have any more credible information on this?

I'm not sure how much I believe the details and a search of Google (and Google News) turned up nothing on the subject.

Don't forget you have the right to freedom of speech as long as you aren't dumb enough to actually try it.

I can't find this story anywhere else, not even on Al Jazeera or BBC. Usually they both show breaking news as a rotating banner and are ahead of US news by hours. Think I'll wait to comment until I can read more about it.

So, did Ms. Clinton actually perform the arrest?

Did she direct the arrest? Call for the arrest? Have any direct involvement with the arrest?

A protester being arrested at a speech given by a western establishment elitist isn't part of the media message being sold right now.

Must be because you haven't looked. Here's a take from Alternet which, to my understanding, is a liberal approved site.....and even they take a decidedly dim view of the incident.

Well, your understanding fails you, because there's no such thing as "liberal approved."

I actually first read it on a reliable blogger site, but googled Ray McGovern Arrest to find the article I linked.

Does it really surprise you that western MSM wouldn't cover it?

Ray McGovern has some minor notoriety because he was a 27-year CIA analyst who scoffed at Colin Powell's presentation to the UN about WMDs, and he has been outspoken against both the Bush admin and the Obama admin - the article correctly references his run-in with Rumsfeld which I have seen on youtube. Rumsfeld > Hillary it seems.

Well, I suppose that may be true....especially since liberals always manage to find something to be pissed off about....except Rachel Maddow....she seems to be solid gold.

Bah. Conservatives are the ones that are always angry. Look at 'em. Always lookin like someone stole their cookies.

Can't say much about Maddow. I've heard bits of her show a few times when traveling for work - makes for good background noise when working at the hotel.

Yes, I saw it on Alternet, and yes they are left wing. So what? That makes one on the left and one on the right that have reported it.

Are you trying to make some big deal of this? Are you baiting me, in hopes that I will respond in anger? Apparently so, as you have no problems with people that make comments before finding out the whole story.

You are dismissed, go play with yourself.

I think a lot of Ray McGovern and what he's done for the US, and from only the 2 sources that I've read, he seems to be doing fine.
