Muslims in modern America don't do that kind of thing. Christians living in medieval Europe did -- not that specifically perhaps, but witch-burnings, etc. (Christians living in modern America don't, any more than American Muslims.)

It's a characteristic of backwards societies, not of any particular religion.

Well, unfortunately, there actually are still honor killings and various barbaric practices by Muslims in America and the rest of the First World. However, again, these things are anomalies and not the norm.

As pram mentioned, there are Mormons and Christians that do barbaric things as well and of course, they aren't the norm either.

But yeah, this is more a problem with the evolutionary stage of a culture than it is with a specific religion.
