Mubarak said he will be giving up some of his powers to the evil(my word) Suleiman.

Looks like Mubarak is "heading" for a hanging,, if he keeps hanging around.
He said he plans to die on Egyptian soil. That may become a self-fulfilling prophesy.

Well, it appears that Mubarak's lust for power has overruled his common sense...

I would have to agree, the people seem like anything but defeated. If anything they look to be very motivated to react.

Suleiman followed with a "lecture" (comment from John Bradley, author), expected reaction tomorrow with more people in the streets. 'Kay.

The bet may be that tomorrow will be violent, tying the hands of the military so they open fire. That would be Mubarak's victory, plus his announcement would make him look like the good compromising and open guy on the international scene, so that in the aftermath he may demonize the crowd. I noticed he emphasizes foreign pressure, talked about the flag on the Sinaļ and how he was a military. My guess is, he's still trying to get the army by his side.
Only my opinion, probably wrong, plus I actually doubt there would be any violence from the crowd, or too localized to justify a tough military reaction. Bradley, commenting on the event, talked about a political "suicide".

Now my real expectation is a White House reaction, but no sign of it yet.

Obama mumbled one briefly today during a speech he was giving somewhere.

So sad! This cannot possibly end well!

I'm afraid there will be a lot of blood in the near future, and a "chaotic" transition will put more power in the hands of the Muslim Brotherhood than a more level transition would have!

Mubarak is so old that he probably thinks (if he is still able to think!) that he has nothing to lose and he wants to go down fighting!

But that is NOT good for his people or for anyone else in that region!

In the hands of the military now.

Mubarak said he wasn't leaving Egypt until he's buried. Make it so.

I would hope if the Egyptian millitary start shooting or running over protesters,,,

our POTUS grows 2 balls and steps in. But leadership is not his forte!

Recall his silence during the Iran uprising.

Well, if he had accepted the will of the people and resigned graciously, he probably would have been able to retire in a "country palace" and spend the rest of his days in Egypt!

Ignoring his people's will will only get him killed faster! I don't wish it on him, but I certainly don't want to see hundreds or thousands of young Egyptians die either!

How do people imagine this would end if 1 million+ protesters went to the Washington D.C. and refused to leave until Obama left office?

To be honest, they're allies we need to stop associating with.

The less Obama says, the better.

Let Egypt determine its own fate. The U.S. was wrong to support Mubarak to start with, and supporting him now would just be stupid.

The Mubarak government has the superb ability to react too late with by far too little.

I am abit bewildered by the continued prophecy of violence and radicalism in the face of incredibly civil protests day after day and no sign for a islamic revolution. Violence only occured when the Regime tried to show of it's muscles, initiated chaos or attacked the protestors.

How it will go down is hard is to predict... but sooner or later the Military will have to choose sides.

Since there is no future with Mubarak, I hope they will choose the people.

Perhaps the military is convincing itself right now. Perhaps they are giving the war hero General Mubarak and his supporters in the leadership some last chances to reestablish order, before kicking him out.

POS's like Mubarak only serve to increase support for extremists. But if you're looking for a pretext for war, that's exactly what you want.

There are already reports about the military "taking necessary measures to establish order" announced by an officer speaking on TV. And this time they did NOT show Mubarak in the picture..........

If only he would have a mustache... he would be far harder to hold on to.

The right thing to do would be to respect a foreign nation's sovereignty.
