Default Governor Christy
I learned that gov. Christy rep. has ordered the lowering of his states flags for Whitney Houston. I do not know what others think of this, but, he also ordered them lowered for other musicians, while ignoring the many in his state that have given their lives for their country.Lowering the flag has always been for military persons killed, government employees killed, or others like that killed in the line of duty. Mr. Christy, should lose everyones respect, due to the fact that he is placing celebrities on a par with fallen heroes. I am appalled at the fact that a head of the state of new Jersey, can fall to this level. I would like to know what you think.

I think that Gov. Christy should worry less about Whitney Houston, and worry more about signing a gay marriage bill passed Thursday by the state assembly.

I agree most whole-heartedly with this article, the only time an artist, singer, or actor should have this honour, is if, like Bob Hope, they gave every non-working moment for the betterment of those servants. I don't even remember if he got that honour?

IF the question of lowering the USA flag for Whitney Houston's death was nationwide, I would absolutely vote NO. Inasmuch as this issue of national flags being flown at half mast seems to be limited to her home state of NJ, I withdraw any opinion I may hold. This is Whitney Houston's home, how their State chooses to honor her is their choice. IF the citizens of New Jersey object to this choice, I am quite sure they will express themselves. They are well known for their abilities to do so.

I suggest we allow her community to respect Whitney's life and grieve her death as they find appropriate. The state of New Jersey is her home community. I must say when she sang our National Anthem at the 1991 SuperBowl, I have never heard a better presentation of this song in my life. Whitney was human, thus, she was less than perfect....as we all are. I grieve her short life, I appreciate her contributions with her excellent music to our lives. May she RIP. Do with your USA flags what you choose. I'm pretty darn sure she would say the same thing.

I would have no issue with a state lowering it's own state flag. But the American Flag represents the entire country. It's lowering should be reserved for military and political figures, period.
Good point Tater. Lowering their State flag would be appropriate, if their people choose.
