The Division II national offensive player of the year in 2016 has entered the supplemental draft Jimmy Vesey Jersey , Gil Brandt of NFL Media reports.

Martayveus Carter’s entry brings the number of eligible draft picks to five. Oregon State outside linebacker Bright Ugwoegbu, Western Michigan cornerback Sam Beal Zemgus Girgensons Jersey , Mississippi State defensive back Brandon Bryant and Virginia Tech cornerback Adonis Alexander also are entered into the July 11 supplemental draft.

Carter led Division II in rushing yards (1,908) and rushing touchdowns (20) in 2016 Authentic Joe Pavelski Jersey , finishing fifth in voting for the Harlon Hill Award as the national player of the year. He earned Division II All-America honors.

Last season as a redshirt junior, he gained 957 yards and scored nine touchdowns on 122 carries in nine games. He also caught 16 passes for 84 yards.
The New York Jets have signed veteran safety J.J. Wilcox for depth after special teams standout Rontez Miles had surgery to repair a torn meniscus.

Linebacker Freddie Bishop was waived Wednesday to make room on the roster for Wilcox.

Wilcox was a third-round draft pick of Dallas out of Georgia Southern in 2013. He played four seasons with the Cowboys and signed with Tampa Bay last offseason. Wilcox was traded by the Buccaneers to Pittsburgh shortly before the regular season and had nine tackles and an interception for the Steelers Rick Nash Jersey , who released him in April.

ESPN reported that Wilcox visited San Francisco but left there without signing.

Miles is the Jets’ longest-tenured defensive player and a key member of the special teams unit but could be sidelined several months. He practiced during the first organized team activities session open to the media two weeks ago but was spotted last week with a sleeve on his left leg. NFL Network first reported Miles’ knee surgery.
