Peshawar: The local Ulema Committee has announced that the Shawwal moon has been sighted in the Mir Ali district of Pakistan’s tribal region, North Waziristan.
Eidul Fitr will be celebrated in the region on August 18, the committee stated Friday. The committee had received reports of moon sighting from six witnesses. Earlier, Pakistan Meteorological Department predicted that Shawwal moon would not be sighted even on August 18 and Eid will be celebrated on August 20 in Pakistan. For the first time in years, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and the rest of the country observed the first Ramazan on the same day. However, Eid will be celebrated on different days. |
