Default Raja’s election shows PPP left with no clean person: Opp
QUETTA - Opposition leaders on Sunday condemned the Pakistan People’s Party for getting Raja Pervaiz Ashraf elected the country’s prime minister, saying it had shown that the PPP was left with no clean man for the job.
Jamaat Ahl-e-Hadith leader Sajid Mir said the election of “Raja Rental” as prime minister proved that the ruling Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) was left with not a single clean person in its ranks.
Addressing a news conference, Mir said the motive behind the change of PM was to save the money looted through corruption. He said the PPP and its allies had become a “corruption company” to serve their personal interests and that the ruling coalition was engaged in prolonging its rule instead of working for public interest. To a question, he said the rulers should explain their stance on NATO supply routes and drone attacks. Commenting on Balochistan, Mir said there would be no improvement if killers of Nawab Akbar Bugti were not punished and the dumping of bodies did not stop. Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leader Liaquat Baloch said the most corrupt person accused of corruption in the rental power plant had been made the country’s prime minister. Addressing a rally, Baloch invited all democratic forces to unite on a single agenda of immediate elections. He said the Baloch youth, who were on the path of rebellion, needed to be stopped.
Meanwhile, PTI chief Imran Khan told a public rally in Jamshoro that the rulers would not be given further time for corruption and the public should take to the streets for a revolution.
“The judgments of the judiciary are not being obeyed, and the country will suffer more if the current rulers stay on,” Imran said, adding that the new prime minister would have to go home like Gilani if he refused to write to Swiss authorities. He claimed that the PTI would bring such a change wherein every citizen would be held accountable. “Sindhi people are innocent and their rights are being exploited. Our party is gaining popularity which is threatening the ruling PPP and major opposition parties,” he stated.
