Default PM challenges PML-N to impeach president
LAHORE: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has challenged Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) to bring a no-confidence motion against him and impeach the president, Geo News reported."If anyone has the courage to call for a no-confidence motion against me or call for the president's impeachment, they should do so," Gilani said.The premier was talking to media after a meeting with PML-Q leadership at the residence of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.Prime Minister Gilani also called on the PML-N to resign from the assemblies before they speak of a Long March.PM Gilani said that decision to reopen Nato supply routes has not been taken yet and the invitation to Chicago summit was unconditionalLoadshedding:The premier agreed with the formula floated by Chaudhry Shujaat to end the loadshedding.Why provinces are not producing electricity and blaming the Centre for the electricity shortage, the prime minister questioned.BudgetFifth budget from a democratic government would be an historic achievement. We have set priorities for the next fiscal year that includes end to loadshedding, more employment, no new taxes and relief to agriculture sector and poor segments.ContemptPM Gilani said the court has not disqualified him. 'The prime minister has immunity on actions taken in discharge of official duties.'PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat said Yousuf Raza Gilani is still the prime minister and those who deny the fact had themselves attacked the apex court earlier.APP adds: Spelling out his government's priorities, PM Gilani said that self-sufficiency in energy sector, employment opportunities to youth, a tax-free budget, relief to the agriculture sector as well as BISP support to urban population will be ensured at all costs."Government has constituted an Emergency Cell and Special Cabinet Committee (SCC) to deal with the energy crisis, adding that the SCC will hold its meetings daily while the minister for Information and Broadcasting is to apprise the public of the shortfall on daily basis", he said while talking to the mediamen after a meeting with PML-Q President, Chaudhry Shujat Hussain and Senior Federal Minister, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi at the Zahoor Elahi House.The prime minister said that the SCC will comprise Ministers for Finance, Water and Power, Petroleum, Information, Deputy Chairman Planning Commission and Governor State Bank.He said the government is fully aware of its responsibility to fulfil energy needs of the country and 3600 MW have been added to the national grid with another 2500 MW projects in the pipeline while Thar Coal, Mangla raising and Diamir Bhasha Dam projects will also be completed soon."Energy crisis is challenge and the government accepts the challenge", he asserted.
