Default Nawaz calls for holding early polls
ISLAMABAD: President, Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N), Nawaz Sharif Wednesday said the incumbent government had failed to deliver to the masses and called for holding early general elections.

Addressing a news conference flanked by former PPP Senator, Anwar Baig on his joining the PML-N, here at the Punjab House, he was of the view that holding of general elections was inevitable because the incumbent government had failed to come up to the expectations of the masses.

"It would be better for the government to hold early elections as it can", he said, adding until and unless the present government will continue ruling, it would add more to the sufferings of the masses.

He said that masses were not ready to give more time to the government. Lashing out at the performance of the government, he said that government has set new records of corruption, adding corruption at such a massive level has never been witnessed in the past.

He further said new scandals were being occurred with the outset of every new day. He said no measures were being taken to address the masses' problems. He said that corruption scandals were stigma on the face of democracy.

Nawaz Sharif slammed policies of the government, saying it should rectify its policies. 'We have always criticized policies of the government and will continue raising fingers over the wrong policies", he added. He said government should fulfill its responsibilities.

Talking about the Nato supply resumption, he said there was no change in his party's stance over the Nato supply resumption. He said he has informed the US Ambassador about the qualms, in this respect.

He further said that prime minister and Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS) have too been informed about PML-N stance. He said US should halt drone attacks as soon as possible. He further said U.S should ponder Pakistan's reservations on drone attacks.

He categorically stated that those quit PML-N over dictator's behest would not be taken back. Even those who were talking to select Musharraf for ten times in uniform and those harmed the party would never be taken back in the party, he said.

He ruled out the impression that PML-N was a friendly opposition, saying it (PML-N) was a friendly opposition then President Zardari had not uttered such kind of words about his party. Replying to a query regarding Younis Habib, he said he had never met Younis Habib, adding it was possible he had a meeting in a crowd.

Terming Gilgit riots the worst of its kind in the national history, Nawaz said the situation has gone out of government's control, adding either Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani or Federal Interior Minister Rehman A. Malik should have visited the flashpoint.

He further said clamping curfew was not the solution of the problem. He said it the center had guided the situation then the situation might not be worsened as it is today, adding the government was not competent to resolve the issue.

Flaying the government's foreign policy said, he was failed to perceive what the kind of government's foreign policy was. He further said Pakistan should not be isolated. He said he still stands at the Memogate scandal, adding if the court summons him, he shall go.

Chief of PML-N also announced that former Senator Anwer Baig would be appointed as Member Central Executive Committee (CEC) while former member of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Senator Anwar Baig announced to join the N-League. (PPI)
