ISLAMABAD: The judicial commission, probing into the memo case, has resumed the hearing after getting another six weeks extension from the Supreme Court Thursday, Geo News reported.

The commission comprises of Chief Justice Balochistan High Court, Justice Qazi Faez Issa as its head, Chief Justice Sindh High Court Justice Musheer Alam and Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Justice Iqbal Hameed-ur-Rehman.

Former DG ISI Shuja Pasha, Husain Haqqani’s counsel Zahid Bukhari, Mansoor Ijaz’s lawyer Akram Sheikh and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Yasin Malik have reached Islamabad High Court (IHC) to attend the proceedings.

Pakistan's former ambassador to the US, Husain Haqqani, a respondent in the memorandum inquiry case, while citing crescendo angina as the reason for his absence from proceedings of the memo commission, had prayed to the three-member commission to adjourn the hearing of the case on today.

The former ambassador is also waiting for the outcome of his application pending before the Supreme Court regarding the recording of his statement through a video link from London. Haqqani, through his application, has told the commission that he has been a heart patient for the last three years and has been under treatment at the Advanced Cardiology Center, Maryland, US. The applicant is currently under treatment for chest pain/coronary artery disease.

Haqqani, while presenting letters from the hospital, said that he is scheduled for MRI/CT at the National Institute of Health, US, on April 04, 2012. The doctors have found him suffering from crescendo angina, which is why he could not appear before the commission. Haqqani has also told the commission that he will wait for his application before the Supreme Court to be decided.

Haqqani, through his counsel Zahid Bukhari, has prayed to the commission to adjourn the matter till his doctors advise him to take on such a stressful task and till the apex court decides his application.
