Default LHW ends sit-in on Ebad's assurance
KARACHI: Protesting Lady Health Workers ended sit-in, staged at Karachi Press Club (KPC) after being assured by Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad of resolving issues.

Earlier on the day, anti-riot police fired teargas shells and baton-charged lady health workers (LHWs) who held a march from the KPC to the Governor's House. The march was held in protest against non-payment of their salaries and the government's reluctance in regularising their jobs.

Dozens of LHWs of the province gathered at the KPC on Wednesday, where they decided to march towards the Governor's House. But police gassed and baton-charged them on the way there, forcing them back to the KPC.

After retreating to the KPC, the LHWs staged a sit-it and vowed to continue it till their demands are met.

Later, Secretary Health Hashim Raza Zaidi rushed to the Press Club on behalf of Sindh Governor and assured them of resolving issues.

Protesting LHW said that they have been invited in Governor House on Thursday (today) and if their demands were not met then they would again staged sit-in.
