KARACHI: After passage more than four years of assassination of the former Prime Minister of Pakistan Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, the lawmakers in the Sindh Assembly on Monday unanimously adopted a resolution seeking her murder investigation report be made public forthwith.
The resolution was moved by the Pakistan Peoples’ Party MPA Ghulam Mujadid Isran. As a few legislatures, mainly from PPP, intended to speak; however, Law Minister Ayaz Soomro believed the matter did not necessarily require a discussion and the assembly passed it thereupon. “This Assembly resolves and recommends to the provincial government to approach the Federal Government through Ministry of Interior, Islamabad to publish the investigation report regarding assassination of Shaheed Mohtarmma Benazir Bhutto and that the report be made public forthwith,” reads the text of resolution. Law Minister also laid two ordinances - The Land Acquisition Sindh (Amendment) Ordinance, 2012 and The Establishment of the Ombudsman for the Province of Sindh (Amendment) Ordinance, 2012 – to the house which met with Speaker Nisar Ahmed Khuhro in the chair at 12.10pm.
