Default Shahzain Bugti, 27 others held with huge arms cache
The Frontier Corps Balochistan arrested Nawabzada Shahzain Bugti, provincial President of Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP), along with his 27 bodyguards at Baleli Checkpost and seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition from their possession on Wednesday.
According to official sources, a 17-vehicle convoy of Shahzain Bugti was coming back to Quetta from Chaman when FC personnel stopped it for search at the checkpost.
After search, the FC personnel allegedly recovered 50 Kalashnikovs, four LMGs, seven other guns and 47,000 bullets.
The FC personnel wanted to arrest Shahzain Bugti. The JWP leader refused to surrender before them and instead he offered that he and his bodyguards would surrender to police.
The FC sources said instead of surrendering, Shahzain Bugti made an attempt to flee from the area but his attempt was foiled by the securitymen, arresting Shahzain and his bodyguards. They were shifted to headquarters of Ghazaband Scouts.
Talking to media, Nawabzada Shahzain Bugti, grandson of late Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti, termed the recovery of arms and ammunition a conspiracy against him, saying that heavy weapons, shown by the FC, were not recovered from his vehicles.
+ACI-These weapons were brought from FC headquarter to implicate me in a fake case of arms and terrorism,+ACI- he maintained, adding that the main objective behind this conspiracy was to foil his programme of long march towards Dera Bugti.
