Granted, there are estimates for Obama, but this helps show how we got where we are, and begs the question: What's that about responsible spending by the GOP?

Hm, I wouldn't put too much stock by that projection. It's assuming quite a lot...assuming that Obama is elected for a second term, and who knows what kind of policies will be enacted by then. That doesn't change the long-established fact that Republicans only whine about "balancing the budget" when they're not in the majority. When they are in the majority, screw responsible spending and stick it to the little guys!

Conversely, presuming Obama does get two terms (I still think he will), I really doubt he'll get us into any military actions as costly as Bush did, and this graph puts the onus of non-returnable portions of TARP on Bush where it belongs, where the GOP would have people believe it was all on Obama. |
