Default GOP walks away from debt talks; Obama: "Republicans can't take YES for an answer"
LA Times: http://www.latimes.com/news/politics...,6896203.story

Obama chided the Ohio Republican, saying that at times Friday he could not even get a phone call returned.

"I've been left at the altar now a couple of times," he said. "And I think that one of the questions that the Republican Party's going to have to ask itself is, can they say yes to anything?"

Framing the issue in political terms, he said Democrats have "shown ourselves willing to do the tough stuff, on an issue that Republicans ran on."

"So far I have not seen the capacity of the House Republicans in particular to make those tough decisions. And so then the question becomes, where's the leadership, or alternatively, how serious are you actually about debt and deficit reduction, or do you simply want it as a campaign ploy going into the next elections?"

Obama called the congressional leadership from both parties to the White House at 11 a.m. Saturday. Neither the House or Senate was due to be in session.

The primary conflict here is that Boehner has lost control of his caucus. He has an extremist Tea Party wing that is bent on making the debt ceiling vote their suicide protest. Any serious proposal has died when trying to sell revenue components to those members.

And this is why I almost feel sorry for the man. He's finally arrived at his life's ambition, and he's being undermined by the ideologues in his own party.

I have no sympathy he created this mess from the get go, McConell has made no bones about saying all he cares about is making Obama a one term President, he could give a rats ass about the Country, Orange man should have reined in Cantor and McConell long ago but he let them run wild and now he has this bed to lie in. I don't know the ramifications of a default but i doubt it will be positive, how bad it can be I don't think anyone really knows but Bohner has allowed it to get to this point he is a freaking tool.

As I have said the debt ceiling has never been an issue when there was a white rethuglican in office, but once we have a Democratic man of color in the office the racism of the Rethugs is on display for all to say, and it is obvious to most. I am a privileged white man and I know the table is slanted in my favor.

Brads signature also points to the racists nature of the right wing idealogy.
