Congressman Leonard Boswell (D-Iowa) and family are safe but shaken after an armed man entered their home Saturday night demanding money. According to an AP report, the man fled when Boswell's 22-year-old grandson retrieved a shotgun from another room.

At about 10:45pm on Saturday, Boswell's daughter Cindy Brown answered the door and was attacked. Boswell, 77, heard her screams and attempted to fend off the intruder himself. The scuffle ended when Boswell's grandson arrived in the entryway with a shotgun and aimed it at the armed man, who fled into the fields around the house.

Boswell's wife was home at the time of the attack. No one was seriously hurt in the incident and the Associated Press quotes Boswell's spokesman as saying that the family is "dealing with it pretty well". Boswell has served eight terms as Congressman for Iowa's 3rd District.
