Refreshing? A strong leader? Given Florida Gov. Rick Scott's (R) devastatingly low approval ratings, these may be words Floridians would have a hard time using to describe their state's chief executive. But don't worry, Florida -- Rick Scott's happy to help you out.

A new feature on the governor's website allows constituents to a sign a pre-written letter to the editor and send it to one of seven newspapers in Florida.

It's an odd request, given that Scott has said he doesn't read newspapers. The newspapers the letter can be sent to include the SunSentinel, the Florida Times-Union, Miami Herald, Orlando Sentinel, Tallahassee Democrat, Tampa Tribune and TCPalm.

Here's the full version of the letter:

Dear Editor,
When Rick Scott ran for Governor he promised to create jobs and turn our economy around. I voted for Rick because he's always been a businessman, not a politician. While politicians usually disappoint us and rarely keep their promises, Rick is refreshing because he's keeping his word. His policies are helping to attract businesses to our state and get people back to work. Some of the special interests are attacking the Governor for making tough decisions, showing leadership, and doing what he told us he would do. Rick Scott deserves our unwavering and enthusiastic support. How can we expect to elect leaders who will keep their word and do what's right for our state if we don't stand up for those with the courage to set priorities, make difficult choices, and actually deliver on their promises made?

Desperate times call for desperate measures, I suppose.

Personally, I'm hoping some island nation offers the governor his own kingdom. Realistically, I'm betting he runs for president (of the U.S.) in 2016. Who knows, he may surprise us all and buy his own island kingdom. In any respect, with his approval rating at 29 percent in Florida, a newspaper letter writing campaign isn't going to save him here.
