Jon Stewart Rips "Petty" Newsweek Over Michele Bachmann Cover August 11th, 2011 3:37 PM by Free Britney Jon Stewart is not going to be voting for Presidential candidate and U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann anytime soon. That's a fairly safe assumption. Still, he said last night that this week's Michele Bachmann Newsweek cover and its obvious implications should make the magazine ashamed. Why? Said Stewart: "You gotta go pretty far out of your way to find a crappy photo of Michele Bachmann - and you did," Stewart said. "Be honest, Newsweek. You used that photo in a petty attempt to make Michele Bachmann look crazy. And that's what her WORDS are for." Pretty much. Of course, Stewart did get in a dig at the Tea Party favorite, adding, "You want a photo that makes her seem a bit off? Make it out of her words." There are certainly many Michele Bachmann quotes from which to choose. Your thoughts? Are people up in arms for good reason because of a subtle smear? Or is it just a photo that people read into because it's ... Bachmann? |

She absolutely is bat**** crazy. And if Newsweek had just owned it and said, yes, we ran a bat**** crazy looking photo to match her bat**** crazy demeanor and policies, just read the story, then I'd be sticking up for them. They didn't do that. Instead, editor Tina Brown said, “Michele Bachmann’s intensity is galvanizing voters in Iowa right now and Newsweek’s cover captures that." That's not only a cheap shot, but it's disingenuous on the magazine's part because the story that ran the following week actually does show she's bat**** crazy.

In context, I think no apology is needed, they could have used this picture instead - http://images.huffingtonpost.com/201...annCornDog.png

I don't think you can count out the Iowa straw poll winner that quickly. And if the Left starts leading with attacks like that, it will just bolster the "MSM is out to get us" claims. The poll shows that Perry is now the first choice of 29 percent of the GOP voters surveyed, with former Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney with 18 percent, and Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) in third with 13 percent. http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2...ld.php?ref=fpb |

Speaking of the Iowa straw poll, was there a memo to all mainstream media outlets not to mention Ron Paul's second place? But boy are his supporters dedicated. Ran into one before the 08 elections at a Springsteen show in Minneapolis and my wife made the mistake of engaging him, we couldn't lose the guy all day. |
