Not surprisingly, my "favorite" part of the night was Michele Bachman: Reading off cue cards and (at least on CNN, and I would have expected a pool feed), not looking into the camera. Even from the get go, using props (is that a first for a semi-official response from a SOU party response) that actually defeat her point. Talking about the first year of Obama's tenure, when unemployment spiked? Two things I took from that: One, the Tea Party still seems to think 2009 was on Obama They used numbers from December '10 for 2011, so logically, the numbers were taken from early in the year for '09. I wonder how long Obama was in office, or if he even was, when the sampling was taken.
The second thing I took out of that was she totally ignored that her own graph showed a decline in unemployment for the two years after that point. Her own graph showed Obama's doing something right. Oh, and I'm sorry. Did she say this nation has the world's best healthcare?! Oye, gavalt! |
