As the Socialist Welfare State crumbles in Europe spoiled Europeans are faced with the prospect of fending for themselves...and they don't like it.
http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/d14a6572-0...44feabdc0.html Police braced for more student unrest By James Boxell, Elizabeth Rigby and Jim Pickard Published: December 10 2010 21:04 | Last updated: December 10 2010 21:04 The police are bracing themselves for more outbreaks of civil unrest after student leaders vowed to push on with a protest campaign that has sparked some of the worst scenes of public disorder on London streets in recent years. The National Union of Students is planning another nationwide “day of action” on Monday, including demonstrations in Victoria Street in Westminster – close to where police fought pitched battles with protesters on Thursday. A House of Lords vote on Tuesday to wave through the hike in tuition fees is also being targeted, though one Scotland Yard insider said: “Just because things have become violent once, doesn’t mean it will happen again.” Mark Field, the Conservative MP for Westminster, said the unrest was “going to go on for some time to come and the authorities have got to get a grip”. Sir Paul Stephenson, the Metropolitan Police commissioner, has been roundly criticised for his handling of Thursday’s protests, which came as MPs voted to raise tuition fees. Thousands of students were “kettled” – or penned in – inside Parliament Square, where Winston Churchill’s statue was vandalised, while a group laid siege to a car carrying the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall. David Cameron, the prime minister, said the attack was “a very regrettable lapse of security”, while Sir Paul has launched an inquiry into the incident. http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/d14a6572-0...#ixzz17lmoqn6z |

*GASP* Not even Prince Charles and Camilla are safe!!!
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk...t-2157412.html 'Off with their heads!' shouted the crowd as Charles and Camilla met rage in Regent Street It was a routine day of handshakes and small-talk for the royal couple. Then they took a wrong turn, writes Andy McSmith Saturday, 11 December 2010 It was a busy day for the Duchess of Cornwall. She had a public engagement at lunch time, and another in the evening. That was twice the number of entries in her published diary as in her husband's. Theirs is a closeted existence, free of the stresses of normal life. Charles's vast income from the Duchy of Lancaster relieves them of the need to work for money, though they try to make a few public appearances every week in support of good causes. And though we might envy their unearned wealth, most of us would find their lifestyle excruciatingly dull. Nothing much happens to disturb the routine of royal life. But, for a few terrifying minutes on Thursday night, the couple were confronted by a section of the population who did not want to shake their hands or listen to their inconsequential small-talk. It appeared, fleetingly, as if the rioters on Regent Street actually intended to do them harm. |
