Chris Coons has defeated the memorable Christine O'Donnell in DE Senate race.
Rand Paul victory speech calls his win a tidal wave for the Tea Party. Michael Bennet (D) in CO has an early lead over Tea Party favorite Ken Buck in the Senate race there. Joe Sestak (D) has an early lead over Tea Party candidate Pat Toomey in PA Senate race. Joe Manchin (D) has won WV Sen over Tea Party favorite John Raese, who Sarah Palin campaigned directly for in recent days. Robert Hurt (R) has beat Tom Perriello in VA House race. Perriello got a push from presidents Clinton and Obama. |

Pat Toomey is now projected at the winner in PA Sen. In CA, Jerry Brown (D) is now projected as winner over Meg Whitman for Governor. Barbara Boxer (D) projected to win over Carly Fiorina for Boxer's CA House seat. The marijuana legalization bill in CA has gone down to defeat. |

A couple of noteworthy moves in the gender and racial makeup of things. Nikki Haley (R) becomes the first Indian-American woman governor of SC, and Susana Martinez (R) is now the first Mexican-American governor of New Mexico.
Nice to see the GOP mixing things up there. On the other hand, the election tonight has now removed every African-American member of the Senate. |

Okay. No Sharron Angle, Christine O'Donnell. No Carl Paladino in NY. Let's see what happens with Joe Miller. We got Rand Paul and Marco Rubio, although Rubio has turned decidedly away from the uber rightwing tea party line of late.
They get 18 months. I expect overtures and gestures to the far right and then business as usual. |

Dems still in control still have two-thirds (Senate and Presidency) It is worse for the Dems that the GOP did not get control of the Senate. The Government is still majority Democrats.
BTW in Wisconsin fantastic night for Conservatives. Johnson takes out Feingold in Senate. House delegation flips from 5-3 Dems to 5-3 GOP. A Conservative Republican politically (though not in personality) similar to Christie in New Jersey wins the Governorship, replacing a corrupt Dem. Additionally both chambers in the state legislature flipped from Dem to GOP control. And my favorite Dem Milwaukee County sheriff David Clarke wins big. Great friggin night here in Cheesehead land. |

it's looking like write-ins in Alaska are out ahead of both Miller (R) and McAdams (D) in early returns.
Assuming most of those are for Murkowski, she may eke out a win, but the number of precincts reporting is still pretty small. A final tally after all the write-in challenges could be weeks or months away. |
