Just 28% of California Voters Now Have Favorable View of Waters Tuesday, August 10, 2010 Longtime Congresswoman Maxine Waters has been charged by the House ethics committee with several potential violations, and just 28% of California voters now hold a favorable view of the Los Angeles Democrat, including 12% with a Very Favorable opinion. A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey finds that nearly half (48%) of California voters regard Waters unfavorably, with 34% who hold a very unfavorable view. But nearly one-in-four voters (24%) don't know enough about her to voice any kind of opinion. Last month, Waters was charged with ethics violations after it was revealed that she helped secure federal bailout funding for OneUnited Bank, where she and her husband have investments and where her husband once served on the board of directors. Waters says she did nothing wrong and was, in fact, working on behalf of a group of minority-owned banks that includes OneUnited. She has insisted on a public "trial" on the ethics counts. Seventy percent (70%) of California Republicans and 54% of voters not affiliated with either major party have an unfavorable opinion of Waters. Among Democrats, 44% view her favorably, 27% unfavorably, and 29% don't know. There's a significant racial divide in attitudes toward Waters, one of the founders of the Congressional Black Caucus. Fifty-two percent (52%) of African-Americans view the congresswoman favorably; 54% of white voters have an unfavorable opinion of her. |

Wow, that's more than twice the support of GOP minority leader John Boehner, who enjoys a massive 12% approval rating in a Fox News poll.

Wow, that's more than twice the support of GOP minority leader John Boehner, who enjoys a massive 12% approval rating in a Fox News poll. Thanks, Richard, for keeping things in perspective. The notable part would be both polls come from Right-leaning groups. You'd expect Rassmusen to hammer Waters. But Boehner must really be screwing up things if even the Foxies don't like him... Dave what kind of perspective does Richard posting this really bring? I bet if we polled the nation on Richard Tafoya his approval rating would be far less than that of John Boehner. What perspective would that bring? Would that demonstrate that Richard "must really be screwing up things." right? |
