Default Hollywood ignores Gulf oil spill, Nashville floods
Think you can add the Arkansas floods to the list. I just can't see Sean Penn rubbing elbows with the Hillbillies in Arkansas either.

Now, you know if the Gulf oil spill happened under Bush the Bush/Cheney "Big Oil" connections would be all over the news and they would be ripped a new one over the spill. Particularily if they were as inept in handling it as Obama is, which is not possible.

You would see Angelina Jolie scrubbing a pelican in dish soap and balling her eyes out over how Bush just doesn't care about the animals. Kanye West would go on another tirade about how Bush doesn't care about black people. George Clooney would land on a beach in his helicopter and pick up a few tar balls for a photo op then rub his beard and curse at Bush and the mess he caused.

What is Hollywood doing now? *Chirp* There's no Bush to bash and they don't want to make their guy look any worse than he is.

DAY 43: Hollywood Ignores Gulf Oil Spill & Nashville Floods

by Big Hollywood

If there’s anything Hollywood does well and deserves credit for, it’s raising money for victims of natural disasters. For some reason, though, the flood that Nashville is still digging out from under – the flood that killed eleven people — has been almost completely ignored by Hollywood.

Same with the Gulf Oil Spill.

When you look at Hollywood’s recent history in rallying for this kind of thing, you’re left to ask why? Where are the telethons and public pleas for humanitarian assistance? Is it that the Nashville “rubes” don’t rate? Is it that calling any attention to the ongoing catastrophe in the Gulf can only hurt Their One? What else could it be?

Nashville stars came out for Nashville and good on them, and so did David Spade. But where was/is the big star-studded nationally televised gala?

And in the Gulf, with the exception of Kevin Costner, all we’ve seen thus far from Hollywood are shockingly shameless A-listers covering for Obama and behaving in ways little better than price-gougers as they cravenly exploit this environmental and economic catastrophe to push their own political agendas. You're upset that there isn't a movie about it yet?

Actually I was wondering the same thing. Where is Hollywood with all the crisis occurring in the nation lately? At least the country stars came out to help their own. Makes me love country music even more. Also, where is Obama in all this? Obama still has not stepped foot in Nashville, instead he went golfing while people lost their homes. This is not the change I voted for, and as of right now, I'm regretting my vote. The President is suppose to be the leader and I haven't seen a lot of that coming from the President. He's more interested in entertaining the elite and passing his agenda then helping our nation. I mean come on, what was last night's speech...a way to get the energy bill passed. That was not the time to mention the bill. He needed to raise the morale of the people in the south by stating what he is going to do and how soon. Again, this is not the change I voted for.

He did state what he was going to do, and today he did exactly what he promised. After meeting with BP, the oil company has agreed to put $20 billion dollars in a fund with no cap and provide compensation to the oil rig workers who are out of work because of the moratorium on drilling. Pres. Obama also appointed a Ken Feinberg to mediate a third party claims process, taking that out of the hands of BP.
