Anyone asking that question knows nothing about the large number of corporate parties that major artists perform every year. The Rolling Stones, Christina Aguilera, Bob Dylan, etc. A million dollars for an hours' work is the going rate for an artist of Elton's status.

You collect the money before you hit the stage, you do the gig, you shower, you hop on the jet and get out of town. No point in even knowing you you're playing for.
