The point was that, using this pen, I might easily wield a scope of influence far beyond that which your sword could ever achieve. Hence it being mightier. Of course, context is a factor.

As for the other, you couldn't rightly expect today's youth to have inherited the same work ethic as that possessed by the previous generation.
