Default Obama's Plan to Eliminate Suburbs
But Kurtz writes here that "Obama is not a fan of America’s suburbs. Indeed, he intends to abolish them. With suburban voters set to be the swing constituency of the 2012 election, the administration’s plans for this segment of the electorate deserve scrutiny. Obama is a longtime supporter of 'regionalism,' the idea that the suburbs should be folded into the cities, merging schools, housing, transportation, and above all taxation. To this end, the president has already put programs in place designed to push the country toward a sweeping social transformation in a possible second term. The goal: income equalization via a massive redistribution of suburban tax money to the cities."

Could it be true? Perhaps..

It would certainly explain his anti-growth agenda.. The guy is a zero growther for some reason. This could easily be it.

Wouldn't such a process require the complicity of elements outside the government?

Such as schools, housing and transport are often private concerns. They're not obligated to comply.

He's not even my leader, and I'm beginning to hate the cunt.

Fucking fascist.

No, it's more about increasing expenses and diverting revenue from suburbs to urban areas than, like, an outright abolition..

Like stealth taxing them, in an effort to make them less attractive.

I know he's practicing steady state economics for some reason.. This article is based on a book on the subject, btw..

Perhaps that explains it?

Yeah.. When he was elected, I thought.. "Well, at least the abuses of the bush years will be behind us."

He's doubled down on the worst of it and added his own mess on top..

I hate these people. I don't know what they are, but they aren't Americans.

He may be fucking himself. The more affluent members of society tend to live further afield than the inner cities. That's a hell of a lot of votes and influence. We're talking about alienating the very people he works alongside, after all. Not only them, but their families and friends. I'd wager there isn't a single member of Congress who doesn't live in suburbia.

The truly affluent have enclaves like Jupiter Island.. They'll always be able to live wherever they want.

The middle class, however? They're the ones who are going to get squeezed the worst.

And who wouldn't want out of a terrible urban cesspool? Nobody in their right mind wants to raise children in an environment like that..

I also know that "Urban Sprawl" REALLY concerns liberals.. They view it as people taking their money and escaping.. Leaving the poor city with no revenue to provide for the least among us!!!!

Al Gore made mention of this numerous times and I never really understood the concern.. It's beginning to become more clear.

Their coalitions center in and around major population centers. They would lose much of their influence without them.

For example, a few heavily populated areas drag Illinois around by the nose..

Fucking A. The cities are jungles. If I had kids, I'd be loath to expose them to inner-city schooling.

Historically, the middle class have represented the centrist portion of most societies. It's a mistake to destroy that. To a large extent, they act to prevent polarisation. You do away with that at your peril. From another perspective, anyone who ever made any fundamental power grab, had to undermine the middle class first. At first glance, this doesn't look very good to me.

To me, it seems as though Obama is making all the right moves, if his intention is to institute an immovable oligarchy. I could be wrong, but his every gesture is aimed towards fostering imbalance. Hence this latest move. It all runs true to form.

Jettison the ballast, and the whole thing may capsize.

But then, perhaps that's the objective.

I'D LIKE TO SEE LAW AND ORDER RESTORED IN OUR URBAN CENTERS.

I'D LIKE TO SEE PEOPLE MOVE BACK TO TOWN... RIGHT DOWNTOWN.

OBAMA AND THE CONGRESS...AND "PROGRESSIVES" GENERALLY, ARE

THE PRIMARY OBSTACLE TO THAT.
