The initiative is a reflection of Colorado's unique blend of laid-back liberalism and anti-regulation conservatism that helped make the state the birthplace of the Libertarian Party.
It's a state where people of different political stripes see marijuana laws as an example of government needlessly sticking its nose where it doesn't belong. It's also a proving ground for advocates who see legalization as a way to ease crowding in prisons, generate much-needed tax revenues, create jobs and weaken Mexican cartels that thrive on Americans' appetite for illegal drugs. ~ http://www.newsmax.com/Politics/marijuana-election-Colorado-legalization |

Fyrenza, I'm going to be keeping my eye on this CO vote. It's ridiculous that weed isn't legal already.

Not to everything, LSG,
and if it WERE legalized, across the board, sold and taxed like cigarettes ~ which, come to think of it, the major cig companies are in PERFECT herb growing surrounds, AND they're already equipped to "roll 'em up!" ~ it would release THOUSANDS of regular folks from jails and prisons, give us the ability to LIMIT ACCESS to 18+ y.o.'s, create a new cottage industry, as well as allowing the tobacco folks to continue in biz, AND increase the tax revenues. It would also allow folks to make their OWN choices regarding what they would like to do in their private time. |
