I understand why you would believe that. I disagree as I believe that line of thinking is a conditioned response, systematically drummed into the party loyalists who fail to see they are being played.

The way out is not ONE person. Agreed. Our savior is not Ron Paul or any other candidate that promises the moon or says what we want to hear. The way out is a strong voice of dissension, steady , strong and willing to cast off the shackles of Congress against the Constitution.

I believe the delineation between O and R and the respective parties is unclear. That is why many people believe the way to dig out is to start now and be prepared to stick it out for the long-haul.
thats great rhetoric, but exactly how do you expect to implement it? Does electing obama make it harder or easier? you say "start now" well isn't a good start removing obama?

as much as goatboy says it, obama and romney are NOT the same.

If you stick to your plan and vote 3rd party, then obama gets another 4 years. 4 years where he can do whatever he wants because he does not have to worry about reelection--how will that help achieve your goals?

I thought as you do years ago and voted for Perot---that got us Clinton.

I thought as you do years ago and voted for Perot---that got us Clinton. Uh, no.. It didn't.

GHWB's inherent weakness as a candidate got us Clinton.

Because WHY WOULD SOMEONE vote for Perot in the first place when they could choose a FANTASTIC candidate like GHWB?

Answer? Because he sucked.. He sucked, and the vacuum of his suckdom created Perot.. Gave him an opportunity he never should have had, and buoyed him.

wrong hoffa, the vast majority of perot voters would have voted for bush over clinton. clinton won with 44% of the votes. perot elected clinton, there is no confusion over that fact.

Perot was the anti-party candidate, they guy you keep praying for. he lost, he caused clinton to win. a third party anti-party candidate this year will elect obama. if you want more obama, vote 3rd party. its that simple.

Perot ran on a GASOLINE TAX, for crying out loud.. One of the most unpopular positions a politician could take at the time.

He preached getting the debt under control and not to engage in self destructive trade practices.

Look where we are today?

There's a bunch of people who believed him then, and with good reason.. GHWB refused to accommodate these voters. His intransigence created an opening Perot never should have enjoyed.

He was a shit statesman, a shit president and his son is a junior shit cut from the same cloth..

He never would have been elected in the first place except for riding Reagan's coat tails.

If he would have seriously addressed these issues, Perot would have been a marginal player, GHWB would have been much more popular and the Billy Jeff Presidency might have been averted.

But he just didn't care.. So..

Because their options were limited?

Yeah, that's what GHWB was counting on.. and he was wrong.

His intransigence created massive support for Perot which he ordinarily wouldn't have enjoyed..

He deserved to lose for flipping America the finger like that.

"Well, where else are they going to go?" isn't much of an election strategy.. It's how Democrats treat the niggers..

Why is it that you fuckers all preach freedom, choice and markets till it comes to politics?

Then, suddenly.. You're socalists.

"I want this and everybody else has to compromise so I can have it.. "

Fuck this noise.. I'm voting Ron Paul in the Primary. I'll probably write in Sachem in the General.

Bush 41 was not a good candidate, we agree. I don't even think he wanted a second term. But why are we rehashing history?

the issue to day is how do we remove obama from power and retain some chance to save the country from european failed socialism?

does bashing the only guy who can beat him do that?

To think that one fucking vote matters is ridiculous anyway.. You run around her wringing your hands over a dozen people..

Calling them liberals, saying they love obama, simply because they don't share your ridiculous view of electoral politics.

It is true that my vote in my red state will not change the outcome, and wiseguys vote in Cal will not change the outcome in Cal. But if you are in a swing state, you can have an impact. If you choose not to, well, be prepared for the results of your decision.

Look hoffa, we all agree that the system is fucked. we all agree that we want to express our anger at the polling booth, but we need to put the anger and frustration aside and think clearly for a few minutes and understand what really matters.

if you truly believe there is no difference between romney and obama, then you might as well stay home and get ready for 4 more obama years.

its that simple. I am not going to convince anyone, but maybe I can make a few think clearly about it.

To put it into perspective...lets use the analogy that your "long haul" in this countrys journey is your 200 mile trip by car. You are 30 miles in and the car suddenly has a flat. Well, you have to change the tire first (obama) before you can continue the journey. If 'twas only a slow leak and the tire was not being shredded and destroyed in the manner our country currently is twould be one thing and you could whistle dixie for the rest of your journey and simply fix the tire somewhere down the road. But thats not the case at this point in time.

Putting another bum tire on to replace the other one just leads to more headaches. And cursing. Lots of cursing.
