wages should be set by supply and demand. The constitution does not guarantee anyone a \\\"living wage\\\", that is a socialist concept that has always failed. The good landscape worker should be paid more than the crappy one because good ones are harder to find---supply and demand.

welfare (actual welfare) should be limited to those unable to work due to physical or mental conditions, and as a very temporary coverage for those who lose their jobs through no fault of their own.

I think we have 42 million people on food stamps----that is an outrage.
Across the board low wages assure economic stagnation, there is no need for supply is there is no demand. Even Wal mart knows that, which is why they support an increase in the minimum wage, but the only thing worse than low wages is NO wages, because all the low paying jobs have either been exported, are part of the underground economy, or lazy white boys refuse to do them

No demand for food? clothes? gasoline? booze? There will always be demand and there will always be someone willing to supply the products that people want. The problem comes about when the govt tries to control prices rather than letting the market set them.

and for the record, The US does NOT have accross the board low wages-----that is one of the most stupid claims you have ever made as any of your identities.

There is a difference between sluggish demand and a vibrant economy, until the middle class has buying power again, we will never have the latter. People like you, on welfare, can not support the economy be re spending tax money

and for the record, The US does NOT have accross (SIC) the board low wages

and your solution is for the govt to print up more worthless money and use it on things like Solyndra. Yeah, that worked out real well.

and I could not be your gramps, my genetic code is not defective and yours clearly is.

I think it supports the "work Americans won't do theory" and is a sad commentary that wages in parts of America are below that of the public dole
No. It supports the theory that people won't work if they don't have to. If survival is guaranteed, who would go work in a factory?

My dog is not a wolf. He's on welfare.

Is the dole too lucrative, are wages too low, or is it a combination of both?
Work ethic?
The owners of the company who take care of my landscaping have their kids fill in sometimes, and their work is shit. I\'ll take my usual illegals anytime
Well, work ethic is nonexistent in the younger generations of the USA. I'm in one of the most physically demanding industries on earth. And it is almost impossible to find someone under 30 who can do this work at the level that is necessary for success.

It used to be the opposite. You'd supplement with new, young guys. The older guys could lead and take it a little easier. That's how it was when I came up.

But it's a very different world today...

Actually, that's the weird thing! We just hired a kid who's the son of a guy we all know. The dad is a great guy. Real man. The son is shit.

I don't understand this phenomenon, and I've been seeing it over and over again. I mean, I view it as a parenting failure, but I don't understand how it happens...
