Quit being a liberal, "eat the rich" asshole. Throwing more money in the hole is not the right way to go. It's what liberals do. Are you a fucking liberal? There is a perfect reason why nobody should be taxed on more than $110,000 - they're not going to get any extra benefit for the money they pay in. It's an insurance program, not a welfare program. If it's now a welfare program, shut it down.

I've honestly had enough of you old people complaining about how you got screwed for having to pay into the system. That's your problem, not mine. It's not my responsibility to pay for your losses.

The line has been drawn in the sand. If you support Medicare and SS, you are a liberal. Pick your side, immediately. You're either with me or your against me.
SS used to be an insurance program. That stopped when congress raided the SS trust fund to cover their greedy spendying. It is now a tax where the people working are paying for the people who are retired. As such, it should be collected on all income.

As to us "old" people, we had no choice in whether we participated in SS or medicare, it was taken from our paychecks our entire working lives without our permission. It is not unreasonable to now expect the govt to live up to its part of the contract.

I would be very happy if the govt would return everything I paid in plus compounded interest, but that not going to happen.

Of course you had a choice. You had the choice to petition and lobby against it, and elect congressmen to repeal it.

There is no government living up to the contract. Cut the shit. It's Bigac and myself "living up to the contract". We don't owe you a retirement.

I'm not old (unless 48 is the new 90), and I've had to pay into SS my entire working life. If I don't get some of that money back, and what my husband paid too, I'll be pissed. Either make everyone pay at the same rate, or get rid of it altogether (but return the money that we've paid into it first).

Hmmmm, I don't recall either of your names on my pay stubs when that money was taken out. Nor were they on the yearly SS statements that the Govt sent me. There is a constructive contract between the govt and taxpayers relative to SS and medicare. If the govt wants to change it for young people, fine. But for those of us who paid in for 40+ years, the govt owes it to us, and there is no politician stupid enough to try to change that.

My hunch is that those wise enough to oppose entitlements were also wise enough to plan for their own future.

Wrong, there is plenty of money, just stop spending it on stupid things, like "green" companies who are going bankrupt every day and (as your hero RP says) stop wasting billions trying to police the world.

There is no such thing. You should read the law. They don't owe anyone anything, per the "contract".

The money taken out of your paychecks is gone. Spent. And it ain't coming back.

true, and if SS payments went away I would be just fine financially, but thats not the point, they took our money and promised monthly retirement payments. If those payments are to be stopped, give me my money back plus compounded interest.

and for goat boy, there was and is a constructive contract. Any lawyer would verify that.

I'm more than happy to stop paying today. I just want back what we both paid into it. No questions asked.

I think SS & Medicare should be voluntary, not mandatory. I also don't know anyone who thinks SS is "retirement". At a whopping $1200 a month or whatever the previous high income earners get, who could live on that? Everyone I know has savings, including us. No SS, we'll be fine. But I still want my money back.

It was stolen!
I guess so. And/or it was never set up as a proper insurance/pension plan.

I've been paying FICA for 20 years. But I don't have any illusions that I'll be getting paychecks from the government in my golden years.

Read the law. There is a mandate on the payroll deduction. There is no mandate to pay benefits.

They put this stuff down on paper. It's all easily verifiable.

You're blathering that I am incorrect is worth about nothing. Reality is reality.

There's plenty of money in there now. And it can and will go on for years, decades.

I want my money back.
