Anyway.. People rationalize things naturally.
They just want what they want (Which is usually instant gratification, or something close) and they want to feel good about it. So, they rationalize.. and we have an almost infinite ability to convince ourselves of stuff. Look at the niggers who rob and steal? They feel this is okay, because of the horrors that were visited on their ancestors.. Even if they never happened.. Even if their ancestors came here as free men, and never suffered these things at all. Because it's not about those "horrors" It's about getting what you want, right now, and being able to settle it in your own mind.. Rationalizing away your own responsibility, so you can do or believe what you want and still sleep at night.. Thinking you're, basically, a "good person" Critical thinking begins with honest introspection.. which is ego damaging.. So most people avoid it and rationalize the lie instead! We're so good at this, have you ever noticed that you never have to teach a child the bad things? Those come naturally.. You have to teach them the good, and especially to be objectively introspective.. Because that's incredibly difficult. |

There are a large number of utterly decent, hardworking, spiritual, unsophisticated folk in this nation who don't have the notion to look as deeply into politics and government as some of us. |

I got to thinking yesterday, while at the Sportsmen's show...
Here you have a crowd of tens of thousands of people, many of whom are armed; and firearms, ammunition, knives, swords, crossbows, etc and etc, are being sold all over the place. They're also selling alcohol, at the same time. Security for this event was so light as to be almost unnoticeable. I saw two uniformed state troopers in the 4 hours I was there, and they were running an info booth. And there was not a single problem that I witnessed. I heard not one ill word spoken. No shoving or pushing in the thick crowds. Now, if you took a poll of that crowd, I imagine you'd probably find that it was comprised overwhelmingly of white christian republicans of middling income and education. Don't call these people cretins. These are the people I want to share a nation with. |

I got to thinking yesterday, while at the Sportsmen's show... The fact that the people at the show were most likely Christians has nothing to do with it. I can't believe you are falling into the same shit-hole of assumptions. Are you saying that if the show was comprised of Jews or Buddhists or Atheists that there would be killing and riots? More likely the people at the show were well versed and used these weapons and had an understanding and respect for their proper use. |

cretin
1779, from Fr. Alpine dialect crestin, "a dwarfed and deformed idiot" of a type formerly found in families in the Alpine lands, a condition caused by a congenital deficiency of thyroid hormones, from V.L. *christianus "a Christian," a generic term for "anyone," but often with a sense of "poor fellow." |

I consider anyone a cretin who bases his political opinions on what some politician says what God wants. Nothing wrong about being spiritual or even religious. |

Jews and Buddhists? That's your comeback? I also added the fact that these were most likely people who were familiar and used these weapons and had a good knowledge and respect for them. It has nothing to do with their religious or political affiliation. Did you read the first statement in my post, or did you just skip to the "good" stuff? |

White Christians built this country, Mossfern.. What you rail against is a result of socio-economic factors, not color of skin. |
