Spliff, just curious - how will Newt Gingrich repeal it? With a simple stroke of a pen? Newt was all for a national mandate - you do know that, right? And a decade before did it in MA, too.

did it in MA, and nowhere else. If conservatives say states should have their own programs of this type (dictatrorial in application? you do know it looked nothing like his original plan by the time the legislature in MA got their hands on it, yes?), why would any conservative presume to comment on what a state imposes on itself, not impacting those of us who don't live there in any way?
  • Mitt Gave Eloquent Defense Of ObamaCare

  1. signed off on it.
  2. tax penalties for failing to obtain an insurance plan, in 2008 penalties increased by monthly increments.
  3. It matters what happens in every state. Ideas sometimes leapfrog state lines.

This wasn't about Newt, But he has clarified his position on a universal mandate...

Newt was in favor of the mandate. His position was already clear.

So what you're saying Spliff is that you think Romey, if elected as POTUS, will get in office and immediately shut down the GOP-controlled Congress (and hopefully GOP-controlled Senate) when they come to him to start whacking away at Obamacare, thereby ensuring that his chances of a second term are 0 percent. That's his plan? wants the job for only one term?

Just curious why you think that. Because that's the reality - and you'd have to be a fool not to know that. knows it too. If the Congress is hell-bent on ripping apart Obamacare with a Republican President, that Republican President will go along with them.

Please convince me why would oppose his own party in this situation, intentionally defeating a chance at re-election.

Newt was... for a mandate or posting of a bond, He doesn't support the concept of "free riders" with zero financial accountability.
Newt has clarified his position though, " A federally imposed mandate is unconstitutional" (is he sincere ?...who knows)

He flipped positions conviently... Like Mitt,
Who supported the massacre of babies, but now he loves them all.

Its just as likely that the 0bamacare structure will be revised under an establishment Republican run House/Senate...
No way in hell is going at it with the GOP establishment... plus there will be democrats to deal with who may or may not hold the Senate.

is going to work with moderates and democrats in a sickening bipartisan fashion. He is going to "govern" . Historical evidence of this exists...
The right wing base be damned !

wont need many conservative votes come 2016 !

I am voting for , proudly I might add. If he runs the country half as well as he ran the SLC Olympics or Bain Capital, our finances will improve dramatically.

Not sure where the "historical evidence" of 's governing comes from. When he was governor of MA, the Liberal Democrats controlled over 80% of that state's legislature. 80%. If he gets elected POTUS, worst case scenario he'll have a GOP-controlled House and a mimimal majority (if that) of Democrats in the Senate. Far more balance than he ever dreamed of in MA. I have no clue how he'd work with that kind of make up - nor do you or anyone else on here.

By the way, I don't think loves babies. He used to be pro-choice, then he (wisely) changed his mind. I also used to be pro-choice until I grew up, had kids, and a late term miscarriage.

The paulistas rant about states rights and then complain about a clear case of a state making a decision for itself. They are as hypocritical as the dem/libs on this issue.
The issue is that we know what he did when he was governor with state governance. What will he do when he's POTUS with federal?
