Why does anyone object to proving identity before voting?

You have to show an ID to register to vote, why not show the same ID at the polling place?

But state ID's are very easy to obtain. EVERYONE needs a photo ID to collect any kind of welfare, including food stamps and Social Security. YOU HAVE TO SHOW SOME FORM OF PHOTO ID IN ORDER TO COLLECT THOSE BENEFITS.( along withe a birth certificate)PERIOD. So there goes that theory out the window.

If they're poor, they're collecting some form of welfare. YOU HAVE TO SHOW A PHOTO ID IN ORDER TO COLLECT THOSE BENEFITS. You are also required to re certify every 6 months.

One of the main objections is that an ID costs money and usually requires access to transportation (which also costs money) to the address where the ID's are made. Believe it or not, for some people, $20 bucks for an ID and a $20 cab ride to get the ID are financially taxing. That's a week's worth of groceries for some.

Also, some people work 8-5 and can't take time off to go have an ID done up. The DMV doesn't exactly have convenient hours.

most states give free IDs. Do these po folks collect welfare and/or food stamps? Are they on social security, ADC, or SSI? All of those programs require an ID.

Agreed, there is no reason to not require a photo id to vote. I'm sure you heard of the Ct. gov who wants to give illegals the right to vote, that is another ploy by the left to garner votes. Once you add those to the dead people who vote democrap then it's a whole new ball game. Apparently you ignored my post Towlie. For those that 20.00 is a lot of money, they're most likely collecting at least food stamps. In order to receive food stamps YOU HAVE TO SHOW A PICTURE ID, AND RE- CERTIFY EVERY 6 MONTHS. So to use the "they're too poor" excuse is out the damn door.

If they're working they also had to shown some form of valid photo ID as well....those pesky I-9's.
