"Neocons like Levin, Sean Hannity, and Rush Limbaugh who now fancy themselves as constitutionalists since there is a Democrat in the White House are hypocrites of the first order. All during the eight years of the Bush regime their standard response to anyone who would object to the PATRIOT Act and myriad other attacks on constitutional liberty was to proclaim that "9/11 changed everything." Translation: the hell with the constitution; we’re engaged in a never-ending "war on terra," as George W. Bush called it. We need to destroy our constitutional liberties in order to protect our constitutional liberties, they told us. It is the hatred of those liberties by people in the Middle East that caused the terrorists to attack us on 9/11, they ludicrously proclaimed (and still do)."

Wholly agree. On my way back from the grocery store, I listened to Herr Boot of the CFR explaining why Ron Paul was not a "conservative", but instead, a fringe joke. Although, I agree with him that Paul has no chance for the Presidency, his reasons why it would be a disaster were less than "conservative". He mentioned Lincoln, Roosevelt(Theo), and Reagan as examples of "conservativism" repeatedly. Really, though?
As concerns the blowhards, 'never trust a grown man who's paid to bitch for a living'. Whores, the lot of them. |

myriad other attacks on constitutional liberty
And what specifically are these "myriad other attacks on constitutional liberty" that Bush made exactly? The Patriot Act, okay, I can see why people would consider that an attack (I don't, but whatever...). But what are the others exactly? And if you don't think it's hatred of America and our freedoms that caused us to be attacked on 9/11, what exactly was it that they were attacking? |
