Default If I was in charge of SNL for a night..
We'd do a skit on the GOP debate..

They'd pan across a nervous stage of candidates.. Who all look as though they're praying for a good showing. Trying to remember their coaching, etc..

Then they'd get to Newt.. and he'd be sitting in a lazy-boy recliner, with a mic stand beside it.

Back across the stage.. Huntsman is chasing a young boy around his podium.. A wax statue for Bachman.. Etc.

Back to Newt. He's got a TV tray in his lap in the recliner now and he's eating a BBQ chicken leg. He throws the leg at the MC's and tells them to stop trying get get the candidates to fight..

Then he takes a few quick bites and answers the question. He gesticulates with another BBQ chicken leg as he talks.

Back across the stage.. Ron Paul is talking about how the Constitution and the founders concept of property rights enshrined there mean that you REALLY SHOULD get off his lawn when you are asked.. as you have no right to be there.. Santorum pauses to ask "Did you smell that? Did you? Huh?" two or three times. Huntsman is now in S&M gear.. Bachman is now answering questions from below and behind the podium so she can't even be seen. and waving a little flag out a hole in the side for emphasis.. Perry is interrupted screaming "pussy" at Mitt.. Herman Cain is speaking passionately about snakes on his plane..

Back to Newt.. He's finished eating now, and half the stage lights flash and go out.. He dabs his mouth with his napkin, sets the TV tray aside, gets up and fixes them as he's giving his answer..

Not bad. Newt really is smart about politics, like it's in his blood. He's somewhat Rovian in that respect. Not sure where he fits in after the election is over. I don't see him winning the GOP bid. But he should be used somewhere. Bachmann too.

Oh I agree. Especially with Newt. If he's not put to good use it's the GOP'S loss.
He'll just go write another book.

At this stage of the game, I'd consider voting for Newt. I like Perry, but he doesn't have the presence Newt does. Unfortunately, that's a requirement these days.

Newt wouldn't take any shit from Congress. That's a solid +1

And the chicken bone thing.....

She'll probably claim he grew up in the house next door....or she's his cousin.....or she worked for his campaign in 1987.....or he raped her grandmother's dog...twice......In either case, I'm sure she knows him very, very well.

I like Newt, but I still can't get past his teaming up with Pelosi on the global warming issue.

I don't mind if he believes the GW bullshit, as long as he doesn't pass any legislation concerning it.

That's a great point. It was a major letdown. He tried to brush it off but the damage was done.
Pelosi has done more damage to the Repube party than George Bush. To sit next to her is beyond explanation.

Not the point I was trying to make. I take more issue with the fact that he felt he needed to find common ground on an issue that was and remains controversial at the expense of the people. I do like his energy plan however, especially the part where he wants to eradicate the EPA. If I were certain that he would stand ground and not seek common ground, he would get my vote.
