Default This speech is going to fucking bomb..
Bloomberg News said the plan would inject more than $300 billion into the economy next year through tax cuts, spending on infrastructure, and aid to state and local governments. Obama would offset those short-term costs by calling on Congress to raise tax revenues in a deficit-cutting proposal he will lay out next week..

http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/...78176520110907

It's the same thing.. He's been saying this for three fucking years.

Bridges & Roads.. Money for State union pensions. Suggest a few (probably temporary) tax cuts, then jack taxes.

We've been here..

I guess the mistake was relying on common sense and ideas that would work.. He has none of these things.

Maybe it's a head fake and he will?

He'll claim he did his part by suggesting all these benefits. Now it's up to congress (aka Repubes aka TEA Party) to "do their part" and raise taxes on the wealthiest Americans.

It's the eleventh hour.. It's too late.

Anything useful they propose, he'll veto... If it even makes it out of the Senate, that is.

It'd be tempting to give him everything he wants.. The spending too, (Provided it is offset from elsewhere) just to point and laugh when he fails.

He's already blamed all his past failures on other things and other people. And he still has an amazing amount of support even if it is in the low 40%.
The scary part will be if the GOP really starts to run away with the next election and they only go for half the field or less. They need to do a Bachmann on the federal govt no matter who wins.

Speaking of ... well, kinda in a round about way ... are you going to open a discussion thread with a link to a live telecast of the debate tonight?

Great, those are some of the best hreads in here, in my opinion. It will be interesting as it will be Perry's first time up ... to see if he falls on his face and how he does up against the rest. Is Huntsman still in the mix? What time does it start tonight?

Now that sounds like fun.

But somebody bring Postman a paper bag to breathe into while Perry is speaking...

Huntsman, Cain, Newt, and ms. meshell....are going to have to prove that they are even 'relevant'? For lack of a better word.

Paul, Perry, and Mitt........will take center. I look for Perry to be sniped at all night. I predict this will be the end of Ron, sadly.

Mitt will try to avoid direct attacks, and will try to just hammer his ol' 'i r teh business man' line over and over.

Meshell will come out swinging and yelling talking points.

Ron Paul will give direct, honest answers.

Cain will try to be funny.

Perry.......? That's sorta up in the air.

From watching his other debates, he can be as charming as he wants to be tho.....and while he's not up to Newt's level of cunning......he's no pure novice.

It's should be a good showing.

I shall watch the debate in the nude (as usual), and touch my self when Perry speaks.

I predict Perry and Paul to go at it hard, while stands "above the fray".

Bachmann will probably go full-on batshit crazy, out of desperation.

The rest are losers...

I'm afraid you're right.
Obama no doubt realized if Americans had to make a choice between a Republican debate and one of his speeches he'd loose.
