Default Interesting comment from elite, liberal author.
He closes his book with this:

“Having a good number of people who didn’t care much about politics was just as vital to democratic government as having the voting booths filled …. Indifferent citizens leavened the system, gave it suppleness, just what the partisan personality lacked. Apathy gave politicians room to maneuver, compromise, make deals, smother grease on the gears of representative democracy … Nothing could be more destructive than a society filled with knowledgeable, active and opinionated [citizens].”

He's trying to be eloquent here, but I think what really bothers him. all of them actually, is that people such as this would have little use for parasitic interests and political pitchmen.

Isn't it odd that this would be such a concern to the elites? The people who preach the merits of "education" day in and day out?

Nothing could be more destructive to those whom wish to implement central planning...

America, and all other White countries, are being dumbed down for a reason. Germans are being replaced by Turks, Britons are being replaced by Pakis, Americans are being replaced by spics. Our standards in education have been lowered to accommodate these people. Elites can only remain that way amongst lesser beings.

Related to this: Notice we tax income, not wealth... Even as the hyper-rich decry the guy making 200K as some kind of fat cat, scam artist, who isn't "paying his fair share"

This is supposed to kick the little guys back down the fucking ladder where they belong... with the rest of the rabble.

Far away from the TRULY rich..

What he's missing is that the appearance of what he calls 'suppleness' is actually anything but that. By definition, democracy requires widespread assent among the people. Where this is lacking, officialdom has the upper hand. The 'suppleness' will be found only at that level. Of course they have free reign; they've effectively been unchained. That bodes ill for democracy, since it's been undermined. It's become unresponsive and stagnant. From that point, autocracy is but a step away.

We move from at least some semblance of procedural direction, to wildest concatenation, as every vested interest in the upper echelons turns to internecine warfare. The public interest is void.

The bloke who wrote that is biased somehow. I don't know how exactly, but he fucking is. It's obvious. He's describing one aspect only, and it reeks of agenda.

Exactly.
It's never been any mystery to me why the uber wealthy politicians focus on income tax instead of a net worth tax. They can own multiple mansions, thousands of acres and millions in other assets but only be taxed for a congressturd's salary.

The fact that the liberals never attack the rich elites tells you something about liberalism as well.

They revel in theft..

One only needs to trace liberalism back to its roots to see the pattern. Were the rulers of the Soviet Union "equals" with the population they inflicted their plans of equality upon? And the only elites they attacked were the ones who threatened to steal a piece of their pie. Stealing the little guy's last piece of pie is okay, just don't you dare try to steal ANY of my millions of stolen pies!

...........EDDIE THE GOAT WITH MR. TOUBOB................

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
THE RULING CLASS HATES RATIONAL, LIMITED
DEMOCRACY.
IT SUBVERTS THEIR POWER TO THAT OF THE PEOPLE,
BOTH AS INDIVIDUALS AND COLLECTIVELY.
THE GREATEST ENEMY OF A TRUE, LIMITED DEMOCRACY
IS AN EDUCATED AND RATIONAL ELECTORATE THAT
OVERSEES ALL ACTIVITIES OF ELECTED OFFICIALS.
OUR CONGRESS OF CROOKS WANTS AN IDIOT ELECTORATE
THAT THEY CAN CONVENIENTLY DOMINATE.
THEY REJECT ANY LIMITS.... CONSTITUTIONAL OR ELECTORAL...
ON THEIR POWER TO LOOT AND DOMINATE AT WILL.
WE SHOULD FIRE THIS ROTTEN, CORRUPT CONGRESS
AND REPLACE IT WITH ONE ACCOUNTABLE TO THE
CONSTITUTION AND TO THE PEOPLE.
