Default College VS Tech school which have jobs, which have more debt?
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...010302143.html
In fact, labor economists say the unemployment rate for workers with a bachelor's degree or higher is poised to hit a record high. This recession is so far-reaching, they contend, few are immune from the consequences. http://www.mybudget360.com/does-a-co...est-on-record/

With college costs going through the roof and in many cases, costing nearly $50,000 a year at private schools many are asking whether some college degrees are even worth pursuing. http://midcoastviews.blogspot.com/20...ment-rate.html
Only 56% of four-year college grads even held a job.
Meanwhile.....most tech schools have 5 companies wanting to hire their grads, for every student.

Income comparison?
http://www.simplyhired.com/a/salary/...llege+graduate
Avg college grad=$46,000...(plus a hundred thousand or so in loans)

Avg Tech grad= http://www.careerbliss.com/salary/el...?q=electrician Also, 46k per year.

I used electrician as an example. Cost of tech school will be around 5 grand.

Employment will be quick, and constant.

So tell me.....how did flooding the job market with a bunch of degrees in liberal arts and underwater basket weaving.....HELP ANYONE, other than union teachers?

Long term pay off, slightly better with a 4-6 degree. If you live long enough to pay off the loans, and don't get fired before you die. Big maybe.

Short-Mid term pay off, Vastly better with a tech school. 100% assured.

You're likely hitting above the avg on salary then.

I listed the 'basics'.

$5,294 for a 1 year (2 sem) course, at the nearby Tech school here.

That should put you out earning around 46k.

If you go beyond that.....your earnings will only increase.

Doubtful that you did. But just in case, let me say 'enjoy unemployment and student loans. '

Im an UPS store manager in des moines Iowa and i make enough money to give my wife and two kids a decent life, have a beautiful house in the suburbs, a 2008 chrysler 300 and a 2010 honda ridgeline.
The point is having a bachelor's degree still helps a lot when paying the bills if you dont like liberal arts (which are worthless ) then dont study them.

Right then. You're a manager of a delivery service in Des Moines?

And um....explain exactly how that bachelor's degree helps you do your job?

I mean did it really take 4 years of college, to move boxes from truck A, to Truck b?

actually getting a job in a respectable, big company having all the benefits we have depends almost 50 percent of social networking college is a great social experience which you will never regret it basically depends on how many friends you make and if they are from a good family....a friend's father helped me a lot when getting this job.

It's not 'what' you know, but 'who' you know.

In a lot of businesses, I'll agree with that.

Besides our status as a world superpower would be diminished if we didnt invest that much in research.. specially in big oil and big pharma
big pharma pays good to researchers.

Mt Cisco certs, PMP and Six Sigma belt were more valuable to me than my degree in my former job....but my college taught me more about life and the real world...to me it was a wash

I wish.. I do fine now, before the crash it was glide path. Now, I'm still okay.. Not "rich" though.

There's some EPA rules in the pipe that knocked me out of an opportunity that would, realistically, gross about four hundred bucks an hour when it was up. Pretty good fucking money for the trades, by anyone's measure.. It was going to be my ticket. And it was all under one roof, in one location. Which is another plus.

But the facility I was going to rent to do this, the centerpiece will be made obsolete by President Nig-Nog.. So, it's fucking worthless to me now.

So, I let it go and the opportunity was missed.

THANKS Liberals! APPRECIATE IT!

They're not going to quit till I'm just like them.. Drawing welfare and sitting on this forum bitching about "the rich"

PS: Of all the self made millionaires that I know, and who know me.. Which is several..

None have a college education.

College is great. I come from an educated family and I would never talk down education.

But you're not absolutely relegated to the realm of the floor sweepers without it, either.

Frankly, most of these guys would have been better off spending the college loan money outright, as start up capital.. They'd have gotten up and going much faster than they did.
