The 14th Amendment states that the validity of the debt shall not be questioned, giving the POTUS Executive Power to raise the debt ceiling when there is no other option, i.e., a congressional stalemate.
That being said, our current congress is clearly slated to see a majority of it's incumbants ousted in 2012. If the dems get their way....there is a pretty big chance that things will get worse, likewise, that same fear resonates among the republicans as well, thus, congress will be held responsible in either case. However.....if the president is forced to create his own plan and invoke the 14th amendment, he will be the sole owner of the crisis, leaving both sides of the aisle innocent of any failed policy. Obama becomes the scapegoat......the irony being that....well....the chickens have come home to roost. How many of his "friends and collegues" has he thrown under the bus since taking office? It would stand to reason that the democrats of both the house and senate are frustrated with this president for his lack of support for them, just as he lacks support for any republican. Both party's appear to be one in the same as far as he's concerned, because neither side of the aisle respect him as a leader anymore. When the presidents plan fails, they are left with no blood on their hands......and Obama is left with sole ownership of the impending doom, leaving congress simply saying.....we tried everything at our disposal, to no avail......Mr. President, we need YOU to make a decision. I think both sides agree that whoever the next POTUS is......they are exponentially a better hope for this country than another four years of this yo-yo. It may be a stretch.....but then again.....it is the US government. |

The 14th amendment does not give the President power to raise the debt ceiling. The actual wording of Section 4 is:
The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned. But Neither the United States nor any State shall assume or pay any debt or obligation incurred in the aid of insurrection or rebellion against the United States, or any claim for the loss or emancipation of any slave; but all such debts, obligations and claims shall be held illegal and void. Section 4 of the 14th amendment only concerns debts incurred during the fighting of the Civil war. It has nothing to do with president dumb fuck spending like a drunken sailor. |

The 14th amendment does not give the President power to raise the debt ceiling. The actual wording of Section 4 is: It's also illegal to incite a public riot......but if I could get enough people together....I would without hesitation.....if for no other reason than my country's sanity. |

And the right to citizenship by birth of an undocumented immigrant in the United States was for slaves, not wetbacks. But nothing in our constitution seems to matter anymore unless it fits the liberal left agenda. So.....with this admin....your point is moot. You're not wrong.....it's just.....logic is folly these days. |

But the "anchor baby" cannot petition for his parents until s/he is of legal age. Which means that the parents can and should be deported. I am not bashing Hispanics, I believe the same should apply to illegals from all countries. |
