HIS plan IS BETTER than simply doing nothing. Commitment to ideology & some constituents is one thing....risking the whole nation's economy & credit rating IS ANOTHER....
WHIP LIST: Republicans appear to have the votes on Boehner's new bill By The Hill Staff - 07/29/11 12:05 PM ET The decision by House Republican leaders to add a balanced-budget amendment requirement to Speaker John Boehner’s (R-Ohio) debt plan is shifting the balance ahead of a Friday vote on the measure. Republicans said as many as 10 to 20 lawmakers said they would support Boehner’s measure with the addition of the new language, including key fiscal hawks Rep. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) and Scott Garrett (R-N.J.), who on Thursday were leaning against the bill. Rep. Todd Akin (R-Mo.), who had been a no vote, announced his support for the new plan. Republicans can afford no more than 23 defections to pass their legislation, assuming all Democrats vote no. http://thehill.com/homenews/house/17...on-debtdeficit |
